She even managed to counter some of the more tense situations with humor - which is not something many authors do well. For me, though, those favorable traits simply couldn't make up for a relationship that didn't make me smile and didn't seem real. Apr 03, Kelsy rated it liked it Shelves: Little Disquietude centers on a romance between two actresses, Leah and Sophie, who are both trying to make it in the theater world.

The book is written in a sparse style, relying more on dialogue than lengthy descriptions making it a quick read. I enjoyed the writing style a lot and liked how we got glimpses of a bunch of different moments throughout the timeline of the book. This helped the romance feel like it developed more slowly although the events take place over only a few weeks.

That looks a hell of a lot more painful than the video still that was on my final.

I also liked both of the female lead characters - Leah and Sophie, but I wish we would've gotten a bit more characterization on Sophie's part. Leah's more complex backstory, plus interactions with her family made her seem more grounded in reality.

Sophie's character had potential for having more complexity, but it just didn't come through for me, which definitely left something lacking in the romance. Towards the end, we get to see a little bit more of her personality, which helped.

Other side characters like Leah's friend, Adam, who is the director of the musical she performs in and her costar, Edward, also came through as being three dimensional in their own ways. Although this is a story about the often dramatic world of theatre, the story itself doesn't have a lot of drama or the usual huge misunderstanding that can burden other romances, and I greatly appreciated that.

JamBrother2 - Look What You Made Me Do

There's one small dramatic scene towards the end that felt like it really just didn't fit with the story or the characters, but it's so tiny that it's barely noticeable. Overall, I'd recommend this one if you're just looking for a light, quick romance read and don't want anything too complicated or dramatic. It's a nice read for a lazy afternoon. This book is great.

May 01, Lindsey Stock rated it liked it Shelves: It was a nice, fun read, but nothing really happens. There's not really any drama or conflict in it and there's never any fear that the lead character isn't going to get the girl in the end that's true for pretty much any romance though. There is a fair amount of humor and wit though, that made it interesting enough to keep reading until the end.

Maybe I'm just way too accustomed to reading angst that makes me cry that I can't fully appreciate happier books. Angst is like literary crack.
