Create Your Own Blog: 6 Easy Projects to Start Blogging Like a Pro by Tris Hussey

This books does contain some good tips, but the writing style is annoying. Too often Tris Hussey cracks tired jokes that add nothing to his text, but rather detract from it. The material is compartmentalized in such a way that I am convinced it is a compilation of old blog posts. The result is a melange of material, some of which is fairly good, but not really presented efficiently, nor effectively. If you've got the time to dig through the book, go ahead and read it. If you want something more This books does contain some good tips, but the writing style is annoying.

If you want something more logically and coherently presented, keep looking. Oct 30, A Voracious Reader a. Carol rated it it was ok Shelves: I read the chapters covering the basics, but the author prefers and uses Wordpress and I use Blogger, so the set up and design step-by-step was no help. I also didn't need to read the chapters about a business blog, video blog, podcasting, portfolio or lifestreaming. I basically read 4 out of 11 chapters.

Hussey goes into great detail on blogging platforms, plug-ins, multimedia, making money as a blogger, and more! This book has heavily influenced me to go deeper into blogging than posting random pretty pictures on Facebook and Tumblr.

It took longer to read than it might, had I not stopped and spent hours implementing some of the suggestions. If you are considering a Blog or even a pro at Blogging I recommend this book - you will soon find yourself implementing plug-ins and configuring widgets. Mar 23, Cody Doll rated it it was ok. It's good for brand new bloggers that don't have a clue but it doesn't teach you anything more then what you already know and can find out through the internet.

With Google Reader leaving, it's hard to this book being worth it.

How to start and earn money blogging

Also, most of the content is specific to Wordpress, so it is less useful to people like me who use Blogger or other blogging tools. Sep 13, Shila rated it liked it. I really like this book so far. Moreso than the Dummie series or other DIY series. It's more condensed and to the point.

It's good for brand new bloggers that don't have a clue but it doesn't teach you anything more then what you already know and can find out through the internet. So, if you do not want to make a blog and host it on WordPress then this is not a book that will help you. Hussey goes into great detail on blogging platforms, plug-ins, multimedia, making money as a blogger, and more! It was almost like having a friend giving you advice, thus compelling you to actually take action. The bottom line is that I have already dog-eared, page marked and underlined lots of great information in this book!
