She had become so tired of staying home that she left him going to another town getting a job cleaning at a hotel. The girl had told her knee friend what she had done.

This book is not yet featured on Listopia. Jun 30, Nikita rated it really liked it Shelves: Especially one sporting a mustard yellow waistcoat, speaking in an outrageous English accent, and offering to buy your precious saloon. As each tries to figure out the other, attraction takes hold and soon Alice and Rupert find themselves in a place neither anticipated! Wonderful pacing and use of dramatic tension — another winner from Cassandra Dean!
Rather than centering around the violent or rugged sterotypical plots of western novels, this plot is instead a romance in the truest sense of the word focusing on the romantic build-up between Alice and Rupert using the western setting as a backdrop instead of an external force acting upon the characters. Alice is guarded around Rupert; she knows he is hiding something, but is intrigued by the handsome stranger.
She is also a happily independent businesswoman who does not appreciate the men around her attempting to quash her freedom and ability to make her own decisions. I thought he was an over-the-top dandy who spoke in an overly-affected English sterotype. Thankfully, it was made clear very quickly that this was an intention choice made by Rupert to hide who he really was from the people of Freewill, not his actual character. The real Rupert is a tough Welshman with a keen intellect and sharp attention to detail. He is surprised by his growing feelings towards Alice, but must balance his genuine interest in her against the contract he signed with his employers.
The two have never seen eye-to-eye, but when a freak storm traps them inside the Diamond saloon overnight they soon realize that the passion they channel into their heated arguments is much better channeled into release between the sheets. This novella was a cute peek into the lives of Pearl and Garrett and shows the story of how these two tempestuous people get together.
They are constantly sniping at each other Pearl moreso than Garrett , but secretly they genuinely enjoy the banter and excitement the other provides. Originally posted at Plot Twist Reviews [dot] Com I received this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

Jul 13, Krissys rated it it was amazing Shelves: The Diamond Series Box Set by Cassandra Dean Stop on by the Diamond Saloon, where devious Englishmen blithely charm sceptical saloon owners and where voluptuous singers archly tease the strong, silent type. I always love reading books by Cassandra Dean, they're sweet, they're fun, they're witty and more than a little steamy. You get a bountiful mix of aww's blended in with the need to break out your vibrator and go to town. I mean who doesn't dream about some handsome stetson walking in wearing worn jeans and a mind full of unique ways to ride?
Although I wanted so much more because I am so greedy and I enjoyed it so much. Even when they drive you up the wall, you're tempted to ask them to.
Fools Gold and Rough Diamond were great stories to dive into and quick enough to finish for you busy ladies out there. There's a cowboy waiting here for you. Krissy's Bookshelf Reviews http: I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from the author.

He puts on the appearance of a bumbling buffoon. It's his job to buy up as Alice is a young widow in Freewill. It's his job to buy up as much of the land surrounding the town as possible. A historical western romance with lots of fun, and a lovely strong heroine. Alice does a fantastic job of looking after herself and others in a time and place that it was almost impossible for a woman to do so. Rupert starts as a figure of fun, and is totally over shadowed by Alice. It's Christmas Eve and there is a blizzard on the way.
The girls are all away, so she is looking forward to some peace and quiet. Ethan Garret has lived in Freewill since leaving his overbearing parents in Chicago.
Around Christmas he feels a bit guilty about that. This time he wants to talk about it. If there is one person guaranteed to spoil Pearl's peace it is Garrett. He is riles her up all the time. A Good little romance , if a bit predictable. Jun 13, Sarah rated it really liked it Shelves: The Diamond Series Box Set is a two for one deal containing both books in the series.
I tend to be a bit OCD about reading all books in a series in order so this was perfect for me. Book One, "Rough Diamond" started off a bit on the slow side which is only why I have given the series 4 stars. I struggled a bit trying to make sense of what role Rupert was playing.
