This seemed like a very clever idea when I saw it on the shelf - a book about the principles of cooking, instead of a straight-up cookbook. It didn't turn out to be exactly the book I was anticipating, which isn't to say it was all bad - but it was more preachy and less informational than I was hoping for, and weirdly vegetarian I say 'weird' because there was no indication from the cover that this was a vegetarian-oriented book, really.
