Now Liam has some explaining to do This book is problematic. I thought this would be a Kindle freebie that I would finish, but the first three chapters made my head hurt from an array of different problems. I'll just list out some things that I highlighted from my notes and describe why I feel confident that this not novel is not for me but you made love it, so don't let my opinions sway you!

THE AWAKENING by Kate Chopin - FULL AudioBook

Plenty of easy, drunken girls. I'm not rooting for you and I definitely don't think you are a gentleman upon reading this quote. Granted, he doesn't seem to be on the prowl to take advantage of these "easy, drunken girls", but I still don't like this douche. You know that really annoying popular trope where the main heroine is the most special snowflake in comparison to all the special snowflakes in paranormal literature. This is no different. I don't even care or feel the urge to know why she's so different because I just hate this trope so much.

Some fantasy heroine's have weird names, but I believe that it adds elements to the world in showing the differentiating concepts of our world and another. Paranormal romance novels, whether they are YA or adult, usually either have a mundane human name or some over-the-top dictionary picked name. Another name can be added to the list of what-were-these-parents thinking?

That's right, folks, our heroine is named Serendipity, but prefers to go by Sera. Sera not Sarah or Sara, but Sera. Please don't associate this absolutely ridiculous name with mine.

Awakened (Vampire Awakenings, Book 1)

The joke is made in a conversation when douchebag and Snowflake meet where the DB makes the comment of her name Sera being unusual and she has to prove to him how special she is by saying that's not my full name, here's my absolutely ridiculous name to prove how different I am from the rest of human society. The basic concepts of grammar are thrown out the window.

Here are some examples of why you should proofread before publishing, "To loud to talk" "You too Kathleen. Also, it's alright not all right! Seriously, it's not hard to distinguish the difference. The portrayal of jealous women is a problem.

I just don't get the point of having this "friend" be apart of the story if she's only there to be vilified and slut shame whoever she disagrees with. It does nothing for the story and I hate reading girl-on-girl hate that promotes slut shaming. I'm parting ways with this novel. Hopefully someone else enjoys it a lot more than I did. Out of the series this was probably the best book, but that is not saying much. The lights go off and a seductive college-aged boy enters. He nearly persuades Elena to kiss him despite her love for Stefan.

The Awakening

Elena brings her diary to a slumber party with Meredith and Bonnie. She does not see Stefan, but the seductive college-aged boy appears. He quotes love poetry and tries to kiss Elena. The boy reacts with anger but leaves when Elena asks him to do so.

Over the next few weeks, Elena becomes more concerned at how Stefan seems to be drawing subtly away from her and keeping secrets. For example, he is wearing an object on a chain around his neck, hidden underneath his clothing, and he refuses to talk about it. He appears haunted and sad. Elena is determined to bring them back together and persuade Stefan to trust her completely. Because Stefan confronted their European History teacher, Mr. Tanner, on the first day of school and corrected him about how teenagers behaved during the Renaissance, Elena plans to wear a Renaissance ball gown as her Halloween costume.

During the Haunted House, Mr. Tanner is given the role of Bloody Corpse. This requires him to be covered with fake blood with a knife lying nearby; he is supposed to sit up unexpectedly to frighten visitors. When Bonnie leads visitors to see the Bloody Corpse, however, she finds that Mr.

Tanner actually is dead and covered with blood. This spurious logic turns the crowd into a mob. Elena follows him and finds Stefan on the roof of the boarding house with blood smeared on his lips, his fangs extended, and dead birds at his feet. In her shock, she falls off the roof, but Stefan leaps after her and catches her in mid-descent. Elena demands explanations at last. Stefan tells her he became a vampire when he and Damon both pressed Katherine to marry them. Stefan believed he had been chosen.

The next day, however, she told Stefan and Damon that she had gone to both their beds, drank both of their blood, and gave them both her blood. She gave each a ring and told them she expected they would all live happily ever after together.

See a Problem?

Distraught and blaming one another, Stefan and Damon then dueled with swords. I would've liked to see Liam's friends find love and a life on their own instead of being Liam and Sera's lackeys. There are naturally moral issues being explored, especially genetic manipulation. She was like a caricature of the most extreme version of mean girls in cinema. In the end I believe the characters of Liam and Sera are two dimensional. In short order Liam becomes totally devoted to Sera but is afraid she will discover what he really is.

Katherine fled in tears. The next day, they found her empty dress in the garden and ashes in the dress. A note nearby told them that she had taken off her lapis lazuli ring to commit suicide and thereby bring the brothers back together.
