Scent of Jasmine

Take time out to smell the jasmine

Jasmine is a type of essential oil widely used in aromatherapy, which was pioneered by the ancient Greeks and Egyptians. It is thought to offer various healing effects. Inhaling jasmine oil molecules is said to transmit messages to a brain region involved in controlling emotions. Aromatherapy proponents suggest that essential oils may affect a number of biological factors, including heart rate, stress levels, blood pressure, breathing, and immune function.

Jasmine oil is often touted as a natural remedy for stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue, menstrual cramps and menopausal symptoms. It is also said to act as an aphrodisiac. The name Jasmine is derived from the Persian yasmin which means "a gift from God" so named because of the intense fragrance of the blooms. There are over species of the plant that occur mainly in the tropical and warm temperate regions of the world, although a few are found in countries with cold winters.

The scent rising off the petals is sweet and intoxicating. More than five million flowers must be gathered to produce one kilo of what is known as "pure jasmine absolute". As a result, much of the jasmine used in perfume is a chemical approximation. Accessibility links Skip to article Skip to navigation.

However, I felt like Alex was a bit "love at first sight" with every girl and Cay changed him too much to be beliveable, because all of a sudden he could only look at her, but didn't feel real to me until the very end. Also at the beginning I couldn't relate to Cay because she was a bit dull, but she improved throughout the journey dressed as a man, so I guess I can say that man-Cay is better than women-Cay to me, and that's why is not four stars book.

The end with the reference to the paintings and that special pink one was a nice touch and brought the book closer to the four stars. Dec 19, BecksBookPicks rated it it was ok. I liked the characters themselves in this book and the story line itself. A woman helping an escaped convict who was convicted of killing his wife. She gets stuck having to be on the run with him. It sounds good and enticing. Alex is a interesting male character.

He was strong willed and determined to clear his name. Cay was a sassy and sarcastic female who was a little too innocent when it came to the real world. The two characters passion I thought should have been jumping off the pages. Howe I liked the characters themselves in this book and the story line itself. However, for me that just wasn't the case. The characters were not even attracted to one another at all from the beginning. Alex wanted his name cleared and that was all he was focused on. Cay was focused on getting home and away from this ugly and smelly man.

Even after he finally bathed she was not attracted to him. The characters didn't have this want from one another that you would expect. They didn't feel drawn to one another.

Botany And Production Methods

Instead they were an annoyance to one another. It wasn't until around page that they finally shared their first kiss. Even when the characters were finally drawn to one another, I never felt the connection between the two. So, if you read this book for the romance aspect, it just wasn't there for me. However, as I stated the story line was good.

Scent of Jasmine was a good commute read -- easy to pick up and put down during minute commutes each way to work and not get lost about where you were in the story. It is billed as a historial romance but except for the year being mentioned a few times there is really little to make his historical -- there's too much modern language and concepts to make that fly.
