There are few things so universal and yet so challenging. Some have tagged the Supreme Command of Deuteronomy 6: There is no room here for divided affections or allegiance. But we are also to love him with how we talk, and what we do with our hands, and how we utilize our talents, and how we react to challenges — our entire being is to display that we love God. The noun version occurs in Deuteronomy and in only one other place, which itself is just an echo of our passage. In 2 Kings This means that the call to love God is not only with our physical muscle, but with everything we have available for honoring God — which includes our spouse, our children, our house or dorm room, our pets and wardrobe and tools and cell phones and movies and music and computers and time.

Read the Bible and find out what the words mean. Listen to the experiences of others. Ask him for guidance. Make an effort to find out who he is.
Discover what he likes and what he dislikes. Loving God with all your mind also means directing your thoughts to valuable things. When you focus on hope and love instead of fear and hate, your heart and actions follow. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Loving God with all your strength means persevering for him each day. To what lengths will you go for the one you love? It means you must muster your resources to protect your relationship with God every single day.
It means being honest, and sometimes it means doing the unpopular thing. It means listening to truth and holding yourself accountable. Loving God strongly is walking away from gossip when you prefer to be part of the group. Every day is made up of hundreds of little moments that are opportunities to love God.
And every single opportunity matters. When loving moments are strung together, they form days. When loving days are strung together, they become months.
God is supremely powerful, infinitely valuable, and endlessly loving, and therefore he demands total loyalty from you and me. What is the relationship between loving God and neighbor, and how can both Jesus and Paul say that loving our neighbor fulfills the law.
