For the last 5 years, since her husband Mark left her for a younger woman, she has behaved splendidly, trying to be as little of a nuisance as possible to him, his new wife, and her daughter. But now she has enough of that and decides to behave exactly as she likes.

She starts by moving back in with Mark and his new wife, at the invitation of her ex-mother-in-law. He notices with alarm that his first and second wife are actually getting along rather too well. Later Bridget moves into the flat her daughter Phyllida shares with some other young people.

This end with Phyllida moving back in with her father, stepmother and grandmother, an arrangement that quickly loses its appeal. And outrageous though she sometimes is, I found myself cheering for her. I would describe the book as a dark comedy, like Fay Weldon or Muriel Spark.

There are also quite a few convenient deaths, all contributing to the lodging merry-go-round, whereby A moves in with B, which means that C has to move in with D and so forth. All of these domestic upheavals make for great comedy as ill-assorted housemates have to figure out how to live with each other. My favorite character was Frieda, Bridget's ex mother-in-law, who schemes quite openly against her son's new wife, and is not above emotional manipulation. Sometimes her wicked ways are described in just a few lines, like "Upstairs Frieda closed a detective story.

Interesting if rather dated treatment of a woman who chooses to "behave badly," i. Has its charms but a bit creaky when it offers soial commentary. Delightful account of the adventures of Bridget, a woman who has "behaved well," staying politely out of sight for the first five years of her former husband's marriage to a younger and more attractive woman, suddenly decides to start behaving badly, and seriously inconvenience everyone around her.

Asking her to pay R3, was like asking her to pay a million. I love the details. I was able to visualize every place and person within the story. I even went and read the first story despite this story standing alone, just to better understand the story and its characters.

I look forward to completing this story and reading others by yourself. The story overall is short and sweet with a little something extra to spice it up. This made me cry and laugh and it really touched my heart. It was a bit too short for my liking but an overall great story that I definitely recommend. Interesting storyline that really gets you.

I loved how the MC evolved and how good versus evil plan went. Read this amazing book please.

I would definitely recommend this book to any This book is everything, I throughly enjoyed it and adored it with my heart. I was constantly on edge with excitement, and constantly drawn into it. Cute story- a lot of back and forth of the same but gets there in the end. A nice story but main characters were going back and forth in a annoying way.
