Goldilocks and Little Bear Interactive Storybook

The English and Bengali type are both set out nicely in a good, standard, printed font that is easy to read. I have seen some Bengali print that is not easy to read at all so this is a plus. The sentences are constructed with simplicity; both texts are easy to follow. This is one particular strength of the book in that the pages follow a certain rhythmical pattern. The pattern is this: You turn each page and you see little bear saying that he has helped with this chore and that chore Eventually, towards the end of the book they finally find time to play together.

But it is the rhythmical metre between the pages that is a strength of this book since it allows young readers to constantly revisit the same words and the same grammatical structures, cementing this knowledge in their minds. Repetition is a good tool for helping early readers get used to language.

It does this in both languages rather well. However, the book is overly sweet and tender and may be too simple to really enthuse and inspire young readers to keep reading, in both their native tongue and in English. It is a short book too and though it contains lots of wonderful illustrations to help readers with the meaning of words, it will only provide a basic understanding of English due to its small number of pages and simple vocabulary.

A good place to start for Bengali pupils with EAL but not enough on its own.

Very appealing to my kiddos because like all children they love anthropomorphic animals and the characters are bears. Very relatable characters, the children can see themselves in the story because the characters do things Guatemalan families and children do carry firewood, clean up, play by jumping, sliding, swinging.
