You know I would like more info on what they ate. Like how did they fix squirrel ,etc.? Wouldn't it be interesting to read the recipe? Didn't they use salt as a preservative? We're all the clothes hand stitched? How did they stay together? The men's clothes had to be rugged as they did their chores. I liked the series a lot. I found the characters very likeable and real. Parts of it were a little to far fetched for their situation, i. Yet I did find the story line believable and engaging. Coon tackled a very real issue found in any era and that was how easily it can be to judge others.
One person found this helpful. I have read all seven books in the series and they were very enjoyable. I really liked the first three books in the series and was taken back when I started reading book 4, however after about five pages I was hooked. Again excellent book and excellent series, really enjoyed the stories. If I would changed anything it would be the end of each book there was to much review material for future books. I would cut that down to able 4 to 5 pages.

I was caught in this series by one of the free books and decided to go ahead and read the rest since the book was good and the price was right on the other books. This one is my favorite in the series so far which is unusual in a way because many times the first book in a series is the best, not the fifth. The story is about a young girl, Kim, battling cancer and her older sister, Grace, who is battling with life's struggles that have touched them both.
Grace is trying to make the most of Kim's time left.
