In spite of the sometimes negative influences on the cousins and the passing back and forth between his aunts and mother, David was an amazingly mature and responsible young boy.
Mia Collins was raised in a two parent family where she was often called on to help with her younger brothers. The two developed a very mature, but disturbing relationship in my opinion.
They were too mature for their age and had a vocabulary of highly intelligent adults. I felt the parents did not do enough to guide their decisions and allowed them to operate as adults.
I kept my mind open through the explicit and grown up love scenes that the two endured and was uncomfortable with the sexual prowess of David starting at an extremely early age at the urging of his cousins. The two matriculate to my alma mater of Bethune Cookman - College landing six figure jobs after graduation.
They have the whole world in their hands until the ultimate bomb is dropped that turns that world totally upside down. It was at this point, I totally got it. The light bulb went off as to why the author took us through the childhood and showed us the extreme maturation that was Mia and David. A couple that starts off so perfect and deemed so suitable, had to live happily ever after. The story was very different than any book I have read, for it tells the story of infidelity not only from a male perspective, but it gives you the real, gut wrenching, tear jerking, kindle throwing in my case truth.
I wanted to punch David and Ms. She knew exactly what she was doing from day one. However, she tried to act as if she wanted David to work on his marriage. Although I was a little uncomfortable with the teenage erotica, I really enjoyed the book. When I say erotica, I mean erotica.
It was not the fumbling and awkward encounters which are normal for teenagers, but David was putting it down at 14 like a grown man. I could not get over that and the fact that Mia's parents were so okay with this. I loved this perspective on the other hand, because I see a change in parenting today versus when I was growing up. It is a great conversation piece for book club. That is just one topic.
There are so many topics that this book touched on that can be a conversation all by itself. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who wants a very well written and different story that had not been told before. I give it 4 stars. Book provided by author or publisher for review purposes. One person found this helpful. I did not know what to expect when I began reading When Everything Isn't Enough because the author was new to me.
I must admit after page one I was thoroughly pleased. Ed Wyns provided a candid look into a man's perspective on infertility. I never imagined it affected men in a way that it probably does on a daily basis. The book not only tackled infertility but it also addressed a whole array of issues that affect a large percentage of families. I experienced a range of emotions as I read the book, from anger, laughter, joy and most importantly love. The love that David and Mia had for each other ditto's that of Romeo and Juliet. I strongly recommend When Everything Isn't Enough to anyone that wants to take a look into the mind of a man that experienced life on some many different levels.
A man that experienced life in ways that a lot of men can relate to, but dare not discuss.
I started reading this book during Labor Day weekend and last night Sept. I bought this book because my co-worker is on the front cover I read this book because what the back cover said about this book When my co-worker told me that he was on the Front cover of the book and he showed me the text that the book was out.
I came to amazon and order my copy: I will be buying it the same day that it comes out. Ed Wyns delivers a much-needed examination of what being a man means in a day when male and female roles are transitioning. The bulk of the book centers on David Tanner and his wife, Mia Collins, who are unable to conceive. When they finally discover why, their seemingly perfect marriage faces its end. Then comes along CJ Fields, a man with a whole different set of insecurities than David Tanner, but whose course is just as self-destructive. In today's field of novels, such topics often are only shallowly addressed in romances.
As a male writer seriously addressing the topic from a literary perspective, Wyns offers valuable insights on what it means to be a man and how that gender must cope with these issues. Once in a while there is a book that provokes so many emotions I can't keep up. When Everything Isn't Enough is just that type of book. I read the story in a matter of a days which is a big feat with the amount of requests I receive on a daily basis not to mention my full time work schedule and family obligations.
This story had me at hello, I was pulled in immediately with the author's compelling writing style. The story follows an adolescent David Tanner through family trouble, x-rated sexual encounters and into the arms of his one true love Mia Collins. The young couple grows together over the years and find themselves living the American Dream.

The first time I listened to the album, I must have sat through the first 20 minutes with an incredulous grin on my face, it was that well done and that much fun. It is a polished recording with great sound, interesting songs, and great percussion. If you like world music of any kind, it is hard for me to imagine you won't feel the same way I do about this album. Voice skill extraordinaire covering world rythms and array of energies.

I bought his album " Toxu " and fell so much in love with his music that I had to buy more albums. This is my second and I love it even more than "Toxu".
Most lyrics I don't understand since it is in Wolof, but it doesn't matter. The music and the voice are enough in itself. I play it over and over and I can't get enough, it fills my body and heart with such a good feeling. Love it and recommend it heartily. Many folk-rooted artists yearn for international success, and many struggle with the urges to modernize versus being true to their roots: Wasis Diop is one of the few to succeed at fusing his African roots with a modern studio-enhanced pop sound. How often do you buy an album where every single song is a winner?
Where you never get tired of listening and wish there were more? This is one of those albums. Wassis Diop is one of the most underrated and under appreciated musicians on the planet.
I'm glad to see his stuff is starting to come available. A few years ago I tried to find his albums and couldn't - even tried to order them from Africa - the shipping was absurd. See all 13 reviews. Most recent customer reviews. Published on June 15, Published on January 13,
