I didn't "feel" their love. And then when view spoiler [Dante died hide spoiler ] Maybe there's some big conspiracy with that and things get worked out in a really great way in the second book, but I don't care enough to want to read the second book. This book desperately needs an editor, though. At one point, they were in a car, and the guy was using his "imaginary break".
I thought he was going to a safe place in his head because she was driving so erratically? I didn't understand at first, until later that paragraph, he was stepping on the "imaginary brake" again he was in the passenger seat. At another point, she jilted her arm from his hold. That's not what jilt means. Yes, I get the idea, but that's not what jilt means. Most of the story was in present tense, but there were times the author would lapse into past within the same sentence.
Call me picky go ahead , but these kinds of things pull me out of the story, which I was having a hard time staying in anyway. I'm disappointed that I didn't enjoy this as much as other readers did, but I guess them's the breaks! Review written for Naughty Nympho's Book Promotions: I loved this author's first book, Twist of Fate, so i decided to give this one a try It blew me away. The story line is, as with her first book, very original and drags you in and keeps you there from the first chapter. The characters are very well written and work together so well.
He does not have the best childhood, but hes not a jerk because if it. He did what he needed to do to become the best man he can be and I'm just totally in love with him. I cant really say too much because i don't want to give any spoilers but trust me you are going to love both Dante and Ava. I loved how the two of them come together and become a couple.
The side characters fit the story very well and are a very big part of the story, they aren't just side characters, they are story line and I really like that about this book. For me, it makes them more than just a side character, but a big part of how the story goes along throughout the book. The story itself, fabulous, not something I read in every book and definitely not predictable. I have to say, this book wrecked me.
I cant say how or why, but I wont be getting over this one any time soon. I am really looking forward to more from this author, she has amazing talent and im thoroughly impressed with what I have read so far. I highly recommend this author.
Mar 15, Sassy Southern Book Affair rated it it was amazing. Dante's Redemption was an amazing read. I am still recovering from the high of reading about Dante and Ava's story. Let me tell you, there were so many unexpected turns in this book. Dante is your hot, undercover agent devoted to cracking down drug dealers in his town. He had a l sexy booty call on speed dial that fit his life just perfect.
The last thing he needed with excess baggage of an over obsessed girlfriend. Ava, his booty call, isn't your bimbo with no brains kind of girl. There was way Dante's Redemption was an amazing read. There was way more to Ava than Dante ever expected. I think that is one of the things that kept me glued to their story.
As the story unfolds, Dante is getting closer and closer to taking down Sal, the mobster drug load, the road gets a little complicated with an unexpected twist involving Ava. This leaves open the possibility that This leaves open the possibility that salvation is possible for non-virtuous pagans like Virgil, Dante's guide and companion. But then the Eagle immediately dashes such hopes by proclaiming that no human being has ever been saved who did not believe in Christ. And just to make matters even more complicated, the Eagle goes on to say that many of those who express faith in Christ will not be saved, whereas many who never knew him will be "eternally rich" by being saved.
We seem to have turned full circle. Now it appears that virtuous pagans like Virgil can indeed be saved after all. But this simply raises further questions. Why hasn't Virgil been saved? Why is he still stuck in Limbo? Dante's ambiguity is a reflection of contemporary theological debates. A number of medieval thinkers such as Thomas Aquinas believed that an individual could be saved despite only having implicit faith in Christ.
In other words, those who'd lived before Christ, or those living in remote parts of the globe beyond the reach of Christendom, could still be saved through the free operation of divine grace. On this reading, it was both arrogant and presumptuous to dismiss out of hand the possibility of virtuous pagans being saved, as this would diminish God's power in effecting salvation. The purpose of Dante's travels through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise is to give him and, consequently, the reader the instruments to understand the nature of sin and the extent of its pervasiveness in the poet's society.
