Editorial Reviews. Review. "This book rocks! I loved the way the story's universe starts out lived in and established. Fantastic sci-fi with tons of action. I can't wait. As the main character slowly gets his memory back and information false or otherwise is given to him, you feel like you are uncovering the mystery with him. My only complaints of the book is that apart from a few main characters which were fantastic and interesting, everyone else kind of merged into one. My only other "want" is that the environments, planets and characters etc had more of a description to them so you could get a better picture in your head of how the world looked, but saying this, enough is said so that you can make up your own mind as to how things look.

This is just my personal preference and does not spoil the book at all. Feb 08, Richard Southworth rated it really liked it.

Skyrim - 4 Thieves Guild Facts

This is a very intelligently written sci-fi story, which creates an intriguing world featuring Earth, a number of off-world colonies, and many different parties vying for power, including the influential Thieves' Guild whose workings are very interesting on their own. Hatton doesn't spoon-feed anything to the reader: The mystery of just what the protagonist Hil has been doing when we first meet him, and why he has amnesia so isn't sure himself , comes together neatly and intriguingly, piece by piece. I enjoyed the style of the prose, the action, and some particular sci-fi elements like the artificially intelligent spaceships.

The only real area for improvement is that there could be more detail given to character descriptions: I've sort of pulled away from this genre lately as I'm finding my tastes are more for down to earth, relatable stories, but even so, this is a very well written novel!

I highly recommend it to those looking for a galactic adventure. I bought this on chance and very glad that I did.

Great plot, well-written, and excellent characterisation. Some strands of the plot remain ambiguous, even at the end of the book. Betrayal and uncertainty drive the story, which has both intrigue and fast-paced action. The intrigue is wrapped around a complex political situation that should suit even the most tortuous minds. The fast-paced action balances the intrigue nicely although at times I wondered if the hero could take much more punishment. His indomitable spirit and sheer will to survive makes for an engaging character. There are plenty of hints about the main character's background that could provide a interesting prequel at some point, not to mention the elusive LC, who never appears directly in this book but whose presence is larger than life.

Having met the author at a convention and realising she is a local lady I was eager to read this series of books. On the whole I really enjoyed it, the plot was engrossing, the writing style was enjoyable and I liked all of the characters. I liked it so much I finished it in 3 nights. My only negative thoughts are the overuse of the the word belligerence, yes I know what the title of the book is, and also the overuse of the word'sucked' But those two tiny annoyance are soon forgotten when you become absorbed in the fast-paced story.

Got into this from a flyer at the Sci-Fi Scarborough Convention. Initially only read it as there was a free offer, but was very impressed with both the plotting and the writing style.

The characters are well formed and thought out, with plenty of twists and turns as their back-story is unraveled. The next volume is on my Christmas list and I can't wait to get started. Book One A really complex storyline. Twists and turns that keep you guessing from page one, just when you think you have it all worked out you dont. Great characters flows well ,didn't like the side narrative hence four stars good read Baz. An amazing adventure through the eyes of Hil. I like space adventures, and this one falls right in there. It's also a nice action packed story with betrayal around every corner, which always keeps the reader guessing.

Good scifi as well as a pretty decent story.
