Please try again later. I am a medical student trying to learn more about publishing papers. This book is an excellent read. It is written in a way that is easy to understand. I would definitely keep this book around, and I'm sure I will be referring to it from time to time when I'm writing a paper.
This is an excellent companion to the book Scientific English by the same Robert A. Day but with Nancy Sakaduski as co-author. I was able to read completely both books in about two days each. Having published many scientific papers myself in past decades I recognize the important guidance that this book gives.
I had to learn this stuff the hard way without such a guide. One person found this helpful. I have made it required reading for my graduate students. Anybody embarking on a career in science should read this book.
I have been a professional scientist for 30 years, published 5 books and more than 70 peer-review journal papers, and I learned a lot from reading this work. This is a great book for grad students or seasoned researchers who want to improve their writing.
Therefore I will buy the latest edition. Some good info here, but not much in depth. Covers a lot of different writing situations with only a page or few on each. This is the all-in-one reference every newcomer and experienced researcher should read to learn how to effectively write scientific papers. The writing style is extremely clear and concise, presenting the most important concepts and advices in a very straightforward way.
