Bid for a Bride is yet another masterpiece of this great writer.. Brian Evans is one of the best characters she has ever invented. He is sweet and caring and the perfect partner for Lucy. I'm not going to give the story away, but let's just say that readers will not be deceived, it's full of suspensions, i cried a bit as it is also emotional. But the ending is well worth it. Angela ussery on March 09, I loved everything about it.

This was one of the sweetest books I have read in a long time. Read it and tell what you think about it. Liz Velez on Feb. I'm a sucker for a hero who is not your typical "perfect" romance hero specimen. There's something sexy about them and Brian Evans is one such man.

Bid for a Bride (South Dakota, book 2) by Ruth Ann Nordin - book cover, description, publication history. (The second book in the South Dakota series) A novel.

Twenty-year old Brian was born blind. His adoptive parents, Eliza and John Evans, found him when he was just a small boy of eight wandering the borders of their land, his alcoholic father having abandoned him to the elements shortly after his mother's death. Heartsick and scared out of his wits at first, Brian soon flourishes under the love and guidance of his new mother and father to grow into a fine, handsome, hardworking young man. Young Lucy finds herself abandoned in Brian's sleepy little South Dakota town after her bigamist husband of one week tries to auction her off to the highest bidder.

After he's chased off by the town's preacher, Lucy is temporarily taken in by Addy and Frank until the marshal and preacher have determined her fate.

Brian happens to be in town that day with his mother and hears of Lucy's predicament. The gentle young man instantly feels compassion for Lucy, having known first hand the fear and pain of abandonment. The long and short of it is that Lucy gets an annulment and no jail time since she obviously had no clue that her ex was already married.

Brian has an immediate soft for Lucy and decides to offer her a marriage of convenience. Fearful that she may be carrying the unwanted child of her bigamist ex, she readily accepts knowing that she needs a husband and no other such offer may be forthcoming. I downloaded the free sample of this book from Smashwords on Thursday and started reading it Friday night. I reached the end of it or middle rather at LOL That is how much I loved this book! I fell in love with Brian. Head over heels, just like Lucy.

He never lets his lack of sight get him down. I loved how Brian's blindness was handled, with just as much care and research as John's inability to speak. Brian was able to still be the man of the house, and his relationship with Lucy developed naturally. There were a few love scenes, but nothing too graphic. Lucy accepted Brian's blindness right off and worked hard to be a good wife even before she was truly in love with him.

I'm not sure why but I didn't connect with her fully.

Flashbacks helped give the reader backstory on both Brian and Lucy, but it worked better in Brian's case. Anyway, I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Oct 27, Gretchen Fatouros rated it it was amazing.

Good stand-alone, but if you want to know Eliza's back story, you might want to read about the Larson's and mostly Neil Craftsman Love Ruth Ann Nordin's books and this series - mostly of the Larson family Dec 10, Kendra rated it it was amazing Shelves: I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I am generally a fan of Ruth Ann Nordin but this one stands out to me.

It may be the novelty of a blind hero my first and hopefully not last read like this but I was quite involved in the story. The sweet romance between hero and heroine was great - a wonderful building story with a great ending. The evil characters were quite terrible but made the romance stand out in comparison. It was also nice to catch up with Eliza from Loving Eliza I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It was also nice to catch up with Eliza from Loving Eliza. I would definitely recommend this book. The only negative I can write about is how brief it was - I was left wanting so much more!

Oct 02, Jody rated it liked it Shelves: This book is a very good continuation of the SD series. This picks up about 12 years or so after the first book. So you get to hear about John and Eliza again.

They adopted Brian and now this is Brian's story. I guess this book gets its name from the bigamist trying to sell Lucy at the beginning of the book, but no one makes a bid for her. Instead the preacher has a talk with Brian. Meredith is scary crazy and thinks that everything works out for Lucy. I am sure Lucy would not think that way, espe This book is a very good continuation of the SD series. I am sure Lucy would not think that way, especially when she first arrives in town.

But I guess things do have a way of coming about for her. Jealousy, Spidey senses LOL and happy endings Aug 31, Judy Lavik rated it it was amazing. What a wild ride! If you want to read each book in chronological order, here it is: This book is the second in the series and I found it to be almost as good as the first, but yet in some ways better. Anyway she makes an appearance or two.. But will she love him as he hopes or will he only be her convenient husband? What he lacked at first in experience, he more than made up for in enthusiasm once he got he swing of things. She didn't love him. Readers Benefits of registering Where are my ebooks?
