The Darkness Between Us (Gay Romance)

Best Gay Elves, Gods, Deity & Wizards

I mean, this is the same author who made the Amish hot! So I thought, why not? And boy, am I glad I did! But I'll admit for the first quarter of the story I didn't particularly like Parker. I felt like he was an entitled whiny douche. But I got through it Hey, whatever gets you through, right?

Best Gay Polyamorous Romance

By picturing this like a Sterek on steroids it was great fun and I made it through without being scared once! It was hot, sexy, awesome fun! In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed this and would recommend to all Keira Andrews fans and Sterek fans! One person found this helpful.

This was so far out of my usual reading habits. I don't really like paranormal, I usually hate monsters book, especially werewolf because of the whole alpha, true mate thing that just I didn't love everything, which is why it's a 4stars but man, was it good! There was none of the werewolf tropes I hate, the romance was cute, the story was engaging and the monsters were fun without being too much.

Parker was a tidbit too whiny at times, and I'm not talking about his freak-outs which were actually nice, because realistic and I guess I would have liked a bit more self-confidence but maybe in book 2? After all, he got better. Not gonna talk more about it because I don't wanna spoile anything, but I highly recommend it. The story itself was unique, and the writing is quality; the scenes and the dialogues flowed nicely.

It's only a 3 star for me for a couple reasons I found it very hard to believe that practical strangers would be completely OK suddenly showering naked together, including an impromptu mouth-hug? That was so out of left field. Also, a super well-rated book needs more substance than gory fighting and random sex scenes although both were written well. For such a broad concept that could've gone in any direction, it was kinda boring. It seemed like the same scenario just replayed over and over until they got to the Pines.

Finally, I do not care for single POV books. It made the story feel incomplete. I wished we could've seen Adam's side of the story. It's hard to find time to read anymore. Even then I can't help but want to read this book over and over, and I have. The characters have their own distinct voices, thoughts, senses of humor, abilities and make you feel as if they are as real as the guy sitting next to you that you can reach out and touch as they run from creepers and survivors alike.

Parker and Adam's relationship progression from each being a thorn in the other's side to someone they couldn't bear to be without was natural and an addictive read, no matter how many times you've read it before. Adam and Parker's interactions with passersby fleeing from the east, the scavengers and would-be murderers, the people offering them salvation, innocent and scared people, and the creepers were all realistic and interesting to read.

Nothing in this book seemed forced, though there were one or two understandably stupid choices made out of desperation and a lapse in judgement. I say understandably because it's a new world for them out there and they are bound to make mistakes. I've only read this book about half a dozen times, this latest time because book two has been released. I really hope that there will be an audible version of this series in the future, especially now that there's a two and next year a three.

Boy oh boy, did this book sneak up on me, truthfully I shouldn't be surprised considering who wrote it.. I was already a fan. So I'm not sure how I missed it. I was supposed to be studying this past weekend, yer right.. I picked up this book and that was the end of it. It's a 'can't put it down type of read'. It has everything in it. Love, hate, death, romance, angst, scary stuff, end of the world type action.

EP2 - Vampires & the Modern World [Ever Dark, A Gay Vampire Romance]

Parker and Adam are absolutely marvellous together as they travel cross country under dire circumstances, I just can't say too much or it will give it away. Do yourself a favour and read this book. I read book 1 and 2 in a day, just because I needed to know what happens..
