Personally I believe that to win others to the Christian faith the process must primarily be performed by the laity of the church rather than its pastors, priests and parsons. All of the apostles were told to make disciples of all nations, not just the leader among them. David Platt's book Radical is just that, radical and a reveille call to all Christians not to just rely on a few to lead but each person has a role and responsibility to the cause of Christ.

    Go out and fulfill it. I enjoyed the challenge of some 'traditional' thinking. In this day and age we need to examine our motives and plans in the light of God's Word, the only infallible proof. We are too close to the second coming of the Lord to be content with less than the most effective methods to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

    Tradition without doctrinal basis needs to be evaluated and possibly altered or eliminated. This book proposes a very direct and concise approach to beginning that process. It was thought provoking and increased my faith as well. As I dream and think of my church, all of its members and the potential it has, I am encouraged in reading this book that pushes me to think beyond the expected role of the church. Platt encourages his readers to push members out rather than in, to draw them out to be all they are meant to be and not what I or any minister wants them to be.

    If you have read Radical, this is a follow up to the ideas presented in his book Radical and his other book Follow me. You may be disappointed in the fact that it will not let you be the same! You will be more like Jesus if you follow even some of what you read. Hi, I am a great fan of David and am so on the same wavelength as he is. Have also read Abandoned to God [life story of Oswold Chambers] who also is on the same wave length. It is so encouraging to hear someone speak out and challenge us to go out and feed His sheep and tell the good news and not just sit in our churches with all the modcoms and plush seats listening to someone else giving us a comfortable sermon, but to train us in going out into the mission field and putting into practice that for which God created us for.
