The illustrations are beautifully detailed and really give life to the characters though for me the image of Gappy was not quite what I conjured from the writtern description. Will certainly be reading the next book in this growing series I wasn't sure I wanted to allow my little one to read about vampire's.
Yet, as I sat down to read this book, I began to realize that it wasn't just about Gappy's development as a vampire, it was about being different and accepting yourself. So, not only did I enjoy this book. My little one did as well. She is so excited for the next book, it can't come fast enough. The explanations of the vampires are well thought out as to not scare children. What an excellent way to portray vampires.
Also, I hear Gappy is on Facebook. Should be fun to keep up with him and his adventures.

She's so cute and tiny She works very very hard for her kingdom. But there was this vampire who always bothers her, even though she's always busy. The vampire was scared to ask the princess, so she decided not to hang out with her for a while. Sometimes she goes to her castle to check if she's doing fine. Every time she visits her, she's always busy.
She didn't have the time to hang out with the vampire which made the vampire very sad. The vampire hopes to be loved by the princess. I can't sleep with the banana guards. It's not that at all! I can't let you go home this late. The princess wonders when will the vampire visit her.
