Whenever I read a sequel to a book I've loved I am always concerned that it will disappoint.

That the author will not be able to live up to my reaction to their first work. Laura Lovett delivered another tour de force so I was spared any let down. There are moments when reading this book you will find yourself holding your breath, biting your nails and almost afraid to turn the page to see what comes next. Howev Whenever I read a sequel to a book I've loved I am always concerned that it will disappoint. However you will turn the page because you will HAVE to learn what comes next.

Lovett provides the background which gives us insight into how the antagonist,Richard White, came to be such a singularly driven "monster. Richard White, is one of the most conflicting characters in any book I have read. You want to hate him - and you do - but, then you want to wrap him in a hug to ease his torment. This book is a psychological stunner. If you are a fan of thrillers that leave you wrung out and breathless then I highly recommend this read. The author, Laura Lovett, is a lovely woman and I was so happy to have her sign my copy of this excellent book.

Bearing not only physical scars but, emotional from his upbringing, Lovett portrays his mental illness with such an empathetic hand, it's impossible not to feel pity as the lines between good and evil are blurred.

Often I find the sequel to a book I really enjoyed is a bit of a disappointment, but that is certainly not the case here. It will be my next book club suggestion! Finding Sophie is not only well written but very hard to put down, so set yourself up for some late-night reading!

I read Finding Sophie during a recent trip and found it gripping.

The character development was superb. It takes a talented writer to humanize a psychopath enough to elicit emotion.

The additional character development of the protagonist from his horrific childhood in this follow-up created surprising empathy for Richard White. Despite his tragic flaws, the author gives us a glimpse through the biological similarities to daughter Sophie of what Richard might have become had he been exposed to positive influences from a young age. The delightful Sophie is forced into rapid maturity by the circumstances that unfold and her evolution is profound.

I leave you to your own discovery and hope that you enjoy the well crafted novel as much as I did! The wait for the sequel to "Losing Cadence" was so worth it! This is a must read!! Apr 08, Ashley rated it liked it. This the sequel to Lovett's first book, Losing Cadence. I could have done with less descriptions about green eyes and I didn't like the alternating voice in the narration 3rd person to 1st person.

I enjoyed her first book but found Saving Sophie to be a page turner. Laura's writing style has matured and I was drawn into the book and the characters. The writing flows more evenly, and the plot depends less on particular and peculiar historical circumstances and more on the iternal conflicts of love and loyalty.
