Davis's account Has there ever been a history of the world as readable as this?
Davis's account is swift and clear, never dull or dry. He lightens it with pungent anecdotes and witty quotes. He died in June B. It bore aloft the earth's first artificial satellite, a shiny sphere the size of a basketball. Its name was Sputnik, meaning 'companion' or 'fellow traveler' through space. The watchers shouted, 'Off. Davis thinks we humans are advancing.

The only problem is that the majority of the book focuses on Eurocentric ideas and the expansion of Europe over the years. Don't read if you enjoy history because this quite frankly doesn't focus on all or even most nations, and continents history.

If anyone has trouble remembering the important events, this book is great at explaining in simple terms how the major events took place and why, with bits of humor and curious anecdotes here and there. Overall, a very easy and informative read. It follows a logical sequence, and is comfortably What a nice read. It follows a logical sequence, and is comfortably arranged into chapters.
At the end of the book, there's a Recommended Reading section, which is displayed in the same chapters the book contains very handy! I guess in order to make this an easy, approachable read, the author doesn't mention the exact date of lots of events, giving more priority to the actual sequence and their consequences. It's a very subjective complaint, since I reckon most people would hurl the book against a wall if the author wrote down as many dates as I would have liked, but what can you do Apr 25, Jack Hillyer rated it did not like it.

It lacks detailed historical information and has no real depth I just wish he would have taken time to delve a little deeper in at least a few areas Sep 19, Shelly rated it liked it.
I enjoyed this book a lot, even though it took me a lot longer to read than I thought it would. The author does a nice job of keeping the book from being dull and boring, like a lot of historical books can be. I thought the first half was better than the second half though. Feb 16, Aaron rated it really liked it Shelves: A great little history book that spans the Stone Age until today. Books like this are my bag, but this one moves quickly and was entertaining as well as informative. Jun 05, Isabella Marcellino rated it it was ok.
The concept and information was very interesting. I think the writing style was a bit messy. The author switched through certain dates too quickly, and in a strange order. There was way too much repetition, and much of the information in certain areas seemed unimportant when more info was needed in other areas. Jul 24, Nazife Korkmaz rated it liked it. It's fine and easy to understand.
