The Prodigal Heart: A Sweet Inspirational Romance, relationship, love story, contemporary

Rachel is a strong main character, even though I felt like she fell for Jonathan faster than I would have expected. It was nice that the focus of the story was on her. Jonathan was an alright hero. Because we stayed with Rachel for most of the story, I don't think I saw him enough to really know whether I liked him or not.

Occasionally, the narrative switched to his perspective and thought, but this is done sparingly. This made the change jarring and didn't help understand him much. The storyline is entertaining, if a bit predictable. The inspirational aspects are done with a light hand. For readers who enjoy a contemporary tale with a little inspiration thrown in, you won't go wrong with this novel.

Timeless Love Anthology What a great idea! An anthology that encompasses three centuries and just over years. It is written by multiple authors, some of whom are new to me. The anthology will only be available for a short time. After that, they will be available individually by each author. I have the overall details of the anthology here. I have the review for each book separately on my blog, Timeless Love Anthology What a great idea! I have the review for each book separately on my blog, with individual star ratings. The rating for the anthology is the same as the highest individual rating.

As a note, until the authors release their books outside this collection, the links for those books will not work. This gift did not influence my opinion or review. Feb 26, Pascale rated it it was amazing. I was fortunate enough to receive an early view of this novella and am including my thoughts here. I have not yet read the other stories in the anthology but hope to when they are released. Here is my review: This story was like a beautiful melody to me.

It flowed so smoothly, I never wanted it to end. I connected with Emory on a personal level as, I too, often use books as an escape and for therapeutic reasons. I loved this short novella and I highly recommend it. Jun 04, Jane Potter rated it really liked it Shelves: I read a few of the stories in this collection starting with Enchanting Nicholette by Dawn Crandall.

I adore Dawn's Everstone Chronicles and this story fits beautifully into her collection. Dawn has done it again!!! I inhaled this novella in just a day. It was wonderful to be back in the world of the Everstone Chronicles and even better to get Nicholette's story! Dawn is at her best in this story.

There are so many deliciously romantic moments. You can feel the tension building and soak in every r I read a few of the stories in this collection starting with Enchanting Nicholette by Dawn Crandall. You can feel the tension building and soak in every romantic look, touch, and word. While I hoped I knew how it would all come together, I loved the journey Nicholette goes on to let down her barriers and embrace true love.

I also read Facade by Pepper Basham which was absolutely gorgeous. The writing is incredible and so detailed. I loved her beautiful way with words. The action was intense and surprising. I wish it was a full length novel so we could get more details. I love the premise of this story. But it wasn't as engaging as I had hoped. And I thought the writing was a bit less refined. Perhaps that's a product of reading historical fiction first and contemporary fiction second. But it didn't click with me like the other stories I read.

A few thoughts on novella collections generally I often wanted more development in a certain scene or sequence. But with a novella, there just isn't as much. Reading so many felt daunting so I just picked a few this time. I had only read Dawn's work previously. I received a copy of this collection from Dawn Crandall author of Enchanting Nicholette in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Mar 25, Lisa rated it it was amazing. Izzy, a widow who had been isolated and emotionally abused by her now deceased husband, and Conrad, illiterate and ashamed of that, are the main characters.

Izzy had started to get her teaching credentials until she married. Kari Trumbo writes a sweet romance story about these two damaged souls. I loved the interaction among the characters and seeing how they helped each other heal. Also, I was amused by Conrad's exasperation with Izzy when he tried to compliment her, and she always took it the wrong way. I was given an ARC. I am choosing to write a review and share my opinion.

One of my tags is "Nobody writes like Sarah Monzon". That pretty much sums up how I feel about this novella.

When Emory Blake is not at work, she's has her nose in a book. Her friend and up-and-coming musician Tate bets her that she couldn't possibly do the things her fictional friends do. Emory accepts the bet on one condition; if she goes on Tate's surprise weekend trips, model This review is only for the novella "Bookishly Ever After" by Sarah Monzon. Emory accepts the bet on one condition; if she goes on Tate's surprise weekend trips, modeled after her current reading material, he will have to send in song-demos to an agent in the musical industry.

There's a lot of fun, an enviable friendship between Tate and Emory, misunderstandings, triggered memories.

And the ending is I adored this novella, I kept wishing it wouldn't end. I identified deeply with Emory and her backstory. I was surprised at the depth the author was able to put into such a short story. At one point in the story I laughed out way too loud after bedtime, but thankfully didn't wake sleeping children. I briefly considered moving to an apartment building in Seattle just in case a musician around my age was prone to sit on the fire escape and play his guitar, and I was under the influence of my Kindle app.

Collections like this are great for introducing to you authors you may not be familiar with. Each story is unique in its own way with no one story feeling like another. Readers are transported to a wide range of settings featuring the upper class, farmers, mountaineers, spies, and the young adults. Give Me Thine Heart is the most historic story in the collection and takes you on a ship from Europe to America.

I felt for Moira and the situation she was being forced into, however I did question her decision of leaving with a complete stranger for escape from this situation. But as I got to know Samuel I began to root for the two of them to form a relationship. Facade had me on the edge of my seat, taking me to France as Livy and Christopher are spies on a mission. Danger lurks around every corner making me wonder if they would succeed with their mission and come out unscathed.

I was holding my breath numerous times. In Bookishly Ever After, Emory is a character that any book lover who enjoys escaping the real world by engrossing themselves in a book will be able to associate with. As much as I related to the bookish side of Emory I was intrigued by the excursions Tate takes her on. It was in these three I found myself easily caring about what was going to happen with the characters.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. This review first appeared at: Jun 19, Julia Wilson rated it it was amazing. People are motivated by either God or money. Hearts that serve others are to be applauded. A great story to kick off the collection. The country has been devastated. Everyone on both sides have lost so much. The people are scarred by their losses. Women have lost their men folk and must manage the best they can. The Good Samaritan spirit is still alive as people do good to those in need which contrasts with the carpet baggers. War changes relationships even with God. I loved the inclusion of a stray dog who attached himself to a new master.

Thrown together due to inclement weather, two strangers have to work together to survive. This is a tale of overcoming, both the grief of the past and the circumstances of the present.

Together we can achieve more than alone. There are some heart stopping moments but God is good and God is faithful. With God in our lives, we are unbeatable. Enchanting Nicholette by Dawn Crandall concerns reputations, new beginnings and fresh starts. We are not bound by our past reputations. It is always unfair to judge. We must rise or fall by our own actions. A traumatic event may lock us into our past. We need to take our fear to God and trust Him and have the courage to live again. There were some highly humorous moments, including lessons on dating.

A delightful tale that reminded me of Downton Abbey American style. It explores the devastating effect of the tongue can have on lives. The story shows the importance of learning - not just letters but learning to live, trust and hope again. A name change signifies a character change reminding the reader that Jesus gives us a new name when we are adopted into His family.

There is the difficult topic of domestic abuse that affects both mind and body. This links to the theme of healing. Some important lessons are to be learnt in this tale. It concerns secret agents in occupied France showing their cunning and bravery. Childhood friends reunite to play out their mission. A marvellous tale of derring do, family loyalties and God who understands our joys and our sadness.

Action moves from London parlours to French castles. Bookishly Ever After by Sarah Monzon is a sweet contemporary story to close the collection. The story surrounds books.
