This sounds interesting to me too. I am just getting started in Yoga but what I am noticing is that a large portion of the instructors are women - which is totally fine!
The beginner DVD I am working with is great and all but there are a couple of poses on the disc that would probably be somewhat easier without external genitalia, one's "cash and prizes," if you will, getting in the way. Also, I tried the 30 day yoga challenge on doyouyoga.

It is definally manageable for a beginner. Though if you want to know if you are actually doing yoga poses right because you can actually really hurt yourself if it's not done correct I actually sprain my thumb during the plow position , I would take few classes to be safe. Plus, you might get the luck of finding the best teacher ever love my yoga teacher Mike. I know several people have posted about trying DDP Yoga.
I had never tried yoga ever before trying a DDP Yoga workout.

I got a really good workout from it and I am a pretty big guy with not very good flexibility. Also he has had several people loose more than a hundred pounds doing his program.

Check local groups in your area as well. I've started attending a group called "curvy yoga" that includes some guys as well. Like you I'm not that flexible yet, but the class focuses on doing as much as you are able while pushing enough to improve flexibility. I think she uses some of DDP moves, but not all exclusively. There are some days that I found uncomfortable because there were a lot of postures that leaned on the wrists.
