In addition to child specialists this book will find appeal to educators, pedatricians, parents and the general public. I think Sroufe did an excellent job This was a wonderful text!

I think Sroufe did an excellent job tying this longitudinal study to social work theory and practice. Was very happy it was part of my required reading. A very good book. The longitudinal study described here is amazing. There are obvious limitations, like applicability to other cities wtih different cultures than this Minnesota city.

Visible Learning for Teachers: If we understood the results of this book and the developmental process and predictability, we would practice a more researched based therapy with each growing stage of life.

Otherwise, every scale, every measure, every you make it up that could be applied, was applied - that's what makes this study really great and worth reading about. Lots of developmental theories, yet leaves room for discovery.

I'm reading it for a graduate class - it can be really dense at times, but smooth during others. Very clear and detailed book! I'm still reading it, but it is completely meeting my expectations and needs. It is extending and completing my studies on the subject. Material in the book is good. However, it's a comlicated heavy read. I would not choose ot read this book out of my own personal choice. Everyone else in my class feels the same way. Thank you for keeping your word! Not only did I get my book at the right time, but my book looks nice and clean!

I enjoyed it very much to read this book and even the methodological part with descriptions of all the measures did not stop me reading it - and English is a foreign language for me. It is the whole spirit of the book, the attempt to find answers for central questions concerning human development which provides a red line.

Though that last bit doesn't necessarily come through in the book. Oct 22, Elizabeth Webber rated it really liked it. This is a very dense read, but the information in invaluable. This knowledge has helped me to better understand the importance of infant mental health and early intervention. It also offers some critical views into how we become who we are.

I think what I have been able to apply most are the findings on which kinds of parenting behaviors lead to which kinds of attachment behaviors. As an early interventionist this is very helpful. Unfortunately, much of the flow of the forest of presentation findings gets lots in the trees of specific comparisons. The last few chapters are quite the nice overview of study implications, though. Complex methodology and painstaking distinctions and clarifications may make it seem redundant to some, but encapsulates some of the most important research in this area since Mary Ainsworth.
