Grant during the Civil War, published by an imprint of Penguin Putnam. That novel was the result of years of research into the Civil War that included time as a reenactor at Gettysburg and other battlefields. In its review, the Civil War News wrote: During a year career as a journalist, he was fortunate enough to interview many veterans of the 29th Division who landed at Omaha Beach on June 6, Once in a while you find a book that's just plain fun to read.
This is such a book. Exciting and entertaining throughout. Every page made you wonder what the next page would hold. The fictional account of a similar event that was attempted during the Civil War. The plot was very involved and had one twist after another. You'll love this one if you're a Civil War buff or not. One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. I basically figured out, that, this probably did happen in some form, during the Civil War. It was a interesting plot for a story.
I will recommend to friends and family. One person found this helpful.
I liked it a little better when reading the end of book about how it was based on something similar. However it read very average and some what predictable. The top of the book was captivating and quickly got me involved in the story. There was a fun element of excitement.
The further I read, however, the more frustrated I became. The kindle version is full of typoes, grammar mistakes, laughable word switches, and paragraphs randomly launched in middle of words. But, the most frustrating element was the continued repetition of descriptions that did nothing to further the development of character or story.
I was glad when I finished the last page I can't recommend this one. Rebel Fever gives us a realistic and even astonishing glimpse into an area of the Civil War few authors have shown us. There were intrigues and horrors beyond imagination -- though not beyond Mr. I heartily recommed this book. My only problem is that it deserves a bigger publisher, perhaps Viking or Penquin, who can give this terrific book the little shove it needs to hit the best seller list.
Healey has several books out they're all well done. David Healey is young author to watch. Addictive Civil War Novel.
Everyday he is flooded with injured patients from both the Union and Confederate sides. His life consists of tending to the patients and surviving this living hell. Meanwhile an enemy from his past, Jefferson Verville, is plotting action to destroy the Union. Verville releases the Black Death in Washington D.
One worker becomes sick and it is soon spreading throughout the city. Caldwell, his reliabe nurse friend Louisa Webster, Wilkerson who has plans of his own and Jacob Flynn set about trying to catch Verville and get him put in jail, espcially since Edwin M. Stantin, Secretary of War, refuses to acknowledge the issue.
This is an addictive war novel that only gets better as you read on. Will they succeed in catching Verville, or will the Union be brought to ruin? Good charters and plot. One small criticism however , percussion revolvers do not have swing out cylinders. See all 8 reviews.
