I was unusually rash in my impression of you and I should not have been so quick to label you when we had just met. Nat, Phil, Bruce, Fury. God he feels so old these days, so tired. Rogers — but I stand firm in what I said before. I have no intention of changing my stance on this. You can go do something else. But if there is no harm done, and it truly helps the other and there is no hostility meant…perhaps if it is the wrong decision to make, forgiveness can be found? No one deserves this. Barnes, can you hear me? He tries to focus on the face that comes into view moments later.
My name is Tony, Tony Stark. However, I need your consent for that. Barnes would be able to process it easier. Will you let us help you? Your brainwaves were all over the place and you needed serious help stabilizing them.
If you want to stop at any time just say the word and bam! Opting instead to walk past them and go to his desk, placing down his tablet and his coffee. Shall I alert security? Fury where you seem to think that I either work for you, or that I owe you my time whenever you deem it necessary. I have still not forgotten how you attempted to manipulate and control me with Natasha going undercover in my company and taking advantage of me in a very vulnerable time in my life. Do be aware that if you take the second option that it will mark the end of any professional relationship that I have with you personally, with the Avengers Initiative, or with SHIELD.
You have a minute to decide. Rogers lingers in the doorway for a moment, turning back to look at Tony. Now please leave before I have to make good on my promise and have you all thrown out. An action from an Avenger has the same weight to me as an action from Fury, I will just cut all ties with all of you if even just one of you tries to do something like this again. Please close the door on your way out.
Shall I check the schedule? The headache pounding behind his eyes is slightly distracting as he puts down the glasses on the table between him and Tony. The other brunet gives him a once over. What is your name?
The headache keeps pounding and he hears Tony softly ask the question again. For a hundred weeks reading me the same damn questions? Tony holds up a hand to prevent DUM-E from approaching with his fire extinguisher. The Winter Soldier exists, and he is you. Fury waits till he sits before he starts the obvious Avengers meeting.
Hill stands and walks around the table handing out packets like she always did and Tony just stares at her when she holds it out to him with a challenge in her eyes. From this packet it looks like hours and hours of playing a long game of cat and mouse while searching out Hydra bases. Consultant Nick, not field agent.
Will they be on the docket as well? Or the sudden infestation of ninjas that are coming out of the woodwork? Will we be going over there to handle all of that? I do not have the time or the energy to expend chasing Hydra across the world. I gave you all this information like any good consultant would and I leave it to you to handle as I know or at least hope you can.
But do not think that I will be there with you. Fury wants me to join the Avengers and help weed them out. I thought I was supposed to be the one asking all the questions around here. Guess I felt like shakin it up a bit. He clears his throat and looks back at the screen.
His fingers fly across the keys and he types in code sequences, and allowances as they work through each level. Getting it into a better form to be working with. In your what — three to six months of sporadically working with him you somehow think that you trump seventeen years? I have other meetings to be in today and other things that I have to get done. Steve thankfully falls quiet while Tony gets back to work and Tony tries to ignore the gaze that the blond is giving him.
Besides — if it keeps him quiet, he can waste his time all he likes. Long days, longer nights. You know the drill. How are you feeling? I think a break might be in order. Who wants to go incognito? Go throw on a jacket and a hat or something. One that runs nothing like the original group. Truth be told, the radio program was kind of interesting, even if the voice actors were a little too over the top, but Tony will never admit that to Bucky. He pulls Bucky along with him. I know just the place. The elderly woman who said it has a huge smile on her face and holds out her arms, to which Bucky is a little surprised to see the ease in which Tony matches her smile and comes over to accept the hug.
My mom loved this restaurant, she used to bring me here when she had the time. There were three stages: Like a DUM-E but with two legs and no fire extinguisher. Any new memories come out of the woodwork? Like I remember snippets of things at the end…but not at the beginning if that makes sense. Before I had all the bugs and glitches smoothed out. He spears some of the spaghetti while Tony cuts into his chicken parmesan.
Top weapons contractor for the United States government. I mean the man raised me from the day they died till the day he paid the Ten Rings to kill me in the desert while I was doing a weapons demonstration.
They tried to force me to build weapons for them, so I made them regret it. I try not to dwell on it. Hmm…what should we talk about? Natasha shrugs and crosses her arms, leaning up against the wall. They whisper amongst each other for a moment, glancing at him non-subtlety every now and then before they both pull back and just lean against the wall, watching him.
To make him feel uncomfortable, and to reveal something he might not have originally. Seems like the more generous thing to do. He gets a tired smile a while later. Good job today FRI. He was lent to the Howling Commandos and worked alongside you under General Phillips. It froze his body until we were able to revive him a little while ago. He, like you, was experimented upon with the Super Soldier serum that a man named Erskine developed. You grew up together. Who knows why, but it just seems to be our lot in life.
Just…keep an eye on him okay? He also feels a random need to not give them to Fury with the fear that the old pirate will just fuck everything up and somehow blame it on Tony. We missed you at the meeting the other day. Was he always that loud? And that obviously pleased to see him? Is that why you failed to include yourself in the line-up of the Avengers in our last discussion Stark? Your evidence was indeed accepted by the Allfather, and my brother and I have been sent to retrieve the Scepter. Alas we returned too late as it has been taken. Which is like a year away?
That was news to me too. They just kind of sprang it on me. How was your day today? How was the session? Barnes is showing significant recovery. Stark is joking Sgt. They are not turning their customers into crack addicts over pie. You could even join the Avengers if you so choose. Rogers is kind of your end game, and I get it. I knew what this was going into it. Bruce looks surprised, and vaguely pleased to see him. Blast me and my brilliance. How was your day? David Bowie as the Goblin King?
If you want to catch up with the Scepter than figure out where your leak is. The moment you mobilize, the Scepter moves. It was supposed to flag potential threats. Piper and Jules leave North Carolina to find Piper' s biological father. Jules has reasons for leaving that I never saw coming. Jules is great character, she is small town girl that is dramatic, but she loves wholeheartedly. She was hilarious to read about.
Jules' s mother Betty, was another wonderful character, she was warm, loving, strong, funny, wise, caring, forgiving, supportive and understanding. This was a wonderful book filled with Romance and Suspense. I highly recommend this book. My review can be found at http: Oct 06, Tracey Quintin rated it it was amazing. I've held off being able to write my review because how does one put into words to accurately convey what a book, or series in this case, that has greatly taken hold of your life in the best of ways means to you?
Where the book characters become actual family members to you, you love them with your whole heart, where you truly connect with them on a deep personal level, where you feel you're actually IN the story, where small things throughout your real life daily living remind you of them? Perh I've held off being able to write my review because how does one put into words to accurately convey what a book, or series in this case, that has greatly taken hold of your life in the best of ways means to you?
Perhaps the reminder is a song, a word, a location, a sign, a person? She takes you deeply into each of the characters and settings. You feel like she is writing snip-it's of YOUR life! No author tops Danielle in my opinion, and that includes ALL well known authors, and I have been an avid reader my whole life so trust me I have read many of them.
In Changing Fate, Danielle captured every emotion possible for me, an avid reader. There was intrigue, mystery, hope, sadness, delight, surprise, anger, laughter, love, romance. There were no moments in the book that I knew or expected what would happen, as happens in most books.
There were times throughout this series, and especially with Changing Fate that I felt Piper and me were the same person with the emotions or situation SHE was going through. I get so choked up with emotion just thinking of this book. I've highlighted several sections of the book that are so very special and dear to me.
The elderly woman who said it has a huge smile on her face and holds out her arms, to which Bucky is a little surprised to see the ease in which Tony matches her smile and comes over to accept the hug. Although finding the truth isn't nearly as difficult as Piper imagined it would be, she can't shake the feeling that what she has discovered may be too good to be true. And maybe a little concerned. The meeting location is some coffee shop teeming with college students and it takes two seconds to notice Rogers in the back. God, how much of the time line has he screwed up at this point?
The story flowed absolutely beautifully and flawlessly. To me, not only was Piper's fate changed, but each character's fate was changed. I don't like to give away specifics about what goes on in a book in my reviews for those that haven't yet read a book.
There is a sentence in Changing Fate that says "Things will be different, Piper. Everything is different now, because you aren't alone anymore. If I could shout from the rooftops to have everyone in the entire world read this series by Danielle, I most certainly would. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I most certainly would. Danielle, I adore you. You are magic in your writing and have an incredible gift you bring to us. Thank you for bringing these folks into our lives and keep on writing girl! Oct 05, Ginny Gallagher rated it it was amazing. It will come as no surprise that I LOVED this book but what may surprise you is that I loved this one even more than the others— and that is saying a lot because Chasing Justice and Cutting Ties are awesome!
Piper, the main character, proves that all of these things can be conquered. Justice can be served, your past can be left in the past, and Fate can be changed. It can be shaped, it can be chosen, and it can be changed. Changing Fate has drama, mystery, suspense, and romance. Many of the characters from the previous books join Piper and have their own issues to resolve during the story. We also get to meet some great new characters. This is one of my top series to recommend. I believe in the author and the books and know that I am recommending a quality reading experience for all readers when I tell them to buy these books.
Oct 05, Debbie Collins rated it it was amazing. I loved this book, well actually I loved the whole series. Also, I am looking forward to Betty's Journal, so that I can catch up with what is happening in the lives of all these wonderful characters, Piper, Bobby, Jules, Michael, Betty and Clay. Danielle Stewart, has a way of pulling you in and making you feel like you know the people you are reading about personally.
This whole series was emotional, dealing with tough topics, but for me, this book was the most emotional. I laughed and I cried, I loved this book, well actually I loved the whole series. I laughed and I cried, and I found myself in awe of Piper. She stays strong, even when life just keeps beating her down. She has a huge heart, and I am glad to know that she finally got her happy beginning.
I know that her and Bobby will have a wonderful life together, even if it did take him a while to get his own feelings sorted out, so that he could finally be the man that Piper needs. I hated to see the series end, but I love the way it did. Oct 07, Melissa rated it really liked it. I have become addicted to the Piper Andersen series. Through a series of adventures, she discovers she has a whole new family.
Bobby also has been busy discovering new things about himself. After trying to live with himself after what happened at the end of Cutting Ties, he I have become addicted to the Piper Andersen series. After trying to live with himself after what happened at the end of Cutting Ties, he is searching for answers too. Danielle Stewart introduces so many new characters that I thought I might need a list to keep them straight.
I'm hoping that there is more to come in this series. I'd love to see what becomes of the whole group. This series is highly entertaining with adventure and romance tied together with a female main character who isn't a pushover. Oct 05, Shelli rated it it was amazing. Danielle has done it again. I laughed and cried a lot. Piper has been thru so much in her life. She deserves her Happy Ever After. But before that can happen she is heading to New York to find her father.
Hopefully her journey will have a happy ending and reunited her and Bobby. Bobby has molded his life around something that happened when he was a kid. Now he is questioning that decision and the only way to find the answer is to talk to everyone that was involved. What will he learn and will it Danielle has done it again. What will he learn and will it help him forgive himself? Piper deserve her happy ever after and Bobby is the only one who can give that to her.

Wow what a great book in the series. I loved every minute I read the book.
It was yet again another well written book. I cannot wait for the next book as I love Betty so it will be great to read her book and after the little teaser at the end of this book I really can't wait. Do yourself a favour and read this book but make sure you start at book 1. Oct 21, Maritza rated it it was amazing. Absolutely loved this book. Perfect conclusion to the series I loved this series so much I'm sad it's over Piper and Bobby's story is loaded with suspense, mystery and so much love.
The ending seemed slightly rushed, and would have enjoyed a bit more details in the epilogue, but overall enjoyed it! Oct 06, Linda Rimer-Como rated it it was amazing. Loved this series very much! Piper is one very strong woman who just wants to belong. She has a long journey but finally finds what she has always wanted Danielle Stewart is a great author and I hope there are more books in this series.
Oct 13, Kellie Read rated it it was amazing. I loved the one just like the first two it was an awesome read!!! Now waiting on Betty's book to come out!!! Well wort the read!!!
May 13, Lisa Gibbs rated it it was amazing. I wanted to review the first 3 books together because Piper and Bobby's story was told by the end of the third novel. Piper is one of the strongest and most damaged characters I have ever read about. Her story did not start out well as she grew up in a neglectful and abusive home in which her parents only cared about where the next big score was coming from. Piper had little hope of escaping her brutal childhood when she ends up in Edenville, North Carolina.
She witnesses and injustice just outs I wanted to review the first 3 books together because Piper and Bobby's story was told by the end of the third novel. She witnesses and injustice just outside of her window but she has been bred to not trust the police because of her horrific childhood so when she witness a judge abusing his power she sets out to bring him down on her own. She then meets Bobby who has had his own share of baggage from childhood.
He is a cop who believes in the law and one single incident from his childhood has shaped him to believe that everything is black and white and the law can help you if you put your faith in it. As their love story unfolds Piper and Bobby never stopped loving each other and the fact that Piper learned to love at all is remarkable because she was the most damaged and never knew love until she met Betty, her drama queen daughter Jules, Michael an attorney she had met before the others and of course Bobby.
Bobby is forced to make a decision that goes against everything he believes in in order to save Piper. A decent secondary-world fantasy about a shapeshifting girl and her brother who inadvertently ends up being the Year-King; she has to figure out how to save him from his fate. It was fun and readable, though I wouldn't say there was anything particularly innovative as fantasy goes.
It's very much in the MZB or Lackey style, so if you like them you might as well give this a try. I am so happy I received this as my first - first reads book. I absolutly loved this book and the story.
Waters had me entranced within a few pages and I felt connected to Akila. As far as shapeshifter stories go this was a wildly great ride. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys a book where the heroine is the creator of her own destiny.
