Jezebels Ladder

While there was only one big issue, the fact that it was not ending at great place to get me interested in any more of the series, and reminded me of the presence of its other, more minor flaws, kind of hurt the book. Despite the fact that there was quite a bit to like, the issue that cropped in this book outweigh it enough to only make this good enough to kill time. I recommend this book to fans of action stories and Scott Rhine, as they will like this the most. As for everyone else, this might be worth giving a try, especially because it will appeal more to people than stories or series with slow pacing.

The thing that I liked the most though is how this book actually felt like a fun read. Although I liked this book there are some issues.

This book did not end too well.

If I had to say why, it is because it kind of dragged on. While i classified the first book as urban fantasy with sci-fi wallpaper. This book is more of a sci-fi militarily school drama. Still a solid book just not my style. This is a fantastic Science Fiction book. This is book 2 in this series and although I didn't read the first book I wasn't confused and this book is very well written. I highly recommend this book. He was dressed in the same gray, long-sleeved shirt over a heavy-metal band t-shirt, and blue-flannel pajama bottoms. I won't go the sexuality that is a huge part of the story, except to say that it's part of the dynamics of the story and often what motivates the characters. Published on March 9, While this is Scott's debut work, and he was probably not as good when he penned this as he is in his more recent work, I was still kind of expecting this book to end better than it did. I think discussion of this book has to come in two parts, the delivery and the content. The plot is internally consistent, the pacing is appropriate, the grammar and vocabulary are top notch, the McGuffin is inventive, and the science is plausible.

If the content appeals to you then you will find no barrier to your enjoyment in the delivery. The author is clearly a professional writer and knows his work. The content did not appeal to me very much. This is an adventure that features a lot of wish-fulfillment, quickly making the protagonist the most powerful character with virtually no effort on her part. The secondary character has magical sex; I'm grateful it was not described in any detail. I'd rate the book at most PG The characters take a back seat to the action, although I must add the action seems realistic in the areas not touched by the McGuffin and quite well-described.

The opening of the book was promising in the area of character development, but that dwindled by the end of chapter one. Once the characters have a one-note back story the character development stops cold. If you enjoy the book the good news is that there are two sequels. The action never stops. The characters are delightful. Jezebel Jes finds herself in a dumpster and things start to look up.

I hate ties, but I'm deadlocked between Foundation for the Lost and Jezebel's Ladder as my favorite Rhine book to date. Honestly, I'm kind of amazed that he pulled it all off so wonderfully, seeing as most of the science, math, and technical jargon was way over my head! However, the plot just pulls you in and doesn't let go, twisting you around and around in the best way possible in the process. I was amused even when I was confused; that takes talent I tell ya!
