This review has spoiler alerts so if you are one of those who don't like to know the story This book is good.
It will draw you in and have you wondering if poor Chante will ever find real love and get over Jason. Stop reading now if you don't want the spoilers.
I have a bone to pick with Ms. While I loved the book and it had me hitting her up on Facebook I hated the ending. Not that it wasn't good But here's my thing The book from the very beginning had me feeling sorry for Chante. Even though she was a beautiful, successful woman she didn't have no true love in her life. After reading the book you will discover why. She wanted me to strangle her!!!! I fell in love with Keith and wanted to knock Chante out when she did him wrong by still seeing Jason.
All in all, through the drama she put Keith through, I actually hoped that he wouldn't give her another chance.
Donneil left it open where Chante was the final decision maker but it would have been too simple for Keith to just forgive her after all she put him through and it was alot!!! If you like this book you may also enjoy Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. The story was good, comical with an array of colorful characters to enjoy.
You already have the synopsis so I won't give one, I will just say that Chante is that typical female that wants to choose the bad boy the one that constantly disrespects and hurts her over the good guy that wants to love her, yets proves he's not a punk, after she betrayed him he treated her as she presented herself, like a confused would rather be mentally abused whore, for a while.
Still, though Chante was confused and thought with her 'Palace' I still liked her in a small king of way, I was rooting for her to finally 'know better' and stop holding out hope that she could get Keiths mannerisms and ways in Jasons body. I will say I thought she was learning, until the end. Then is what brought the book down to me, it totally deflated the story, felt rushed and just not realistic. Okay I won't say not realistic but I don't know if the ending was the ending to the book or the epilogue to the NEXT book, it was confusing.
The book either basically ended at the end of a general sentence where it shouldn't have, or the ending just sucked because it wasn't an ending. I don't think I will be reading the next book, because of what has already been given away and it's only so much 'old' Tom Foolery I can deal with. If Chante is still thinking with her 'palace' and doing Keith wrong, I'm sorry I can't see him being that sprung and naive or her being that silly, so this is my last book for this series. One person found this helpful. Chante Chambers is a sinfully, scintillating, sensational sexy siren singing her song in hopes of snaring her perfect man.
In her quest, she meets several and takes different characteristics to embody 'him.
She's constantly sparring with Jason McGee for his love, but he can't seem to stop his wandering eyes or his third leg. Confident in her position with Jason and his company, she issues punishment by way of charging expensive trinkets as well as designer clothes to her expense account at Jason's World. The two begin a fairytale romance with a few bumps in the road but nothing they can't master until Chante realizes that she can't stop looking back.
Donneil Jackson's debut novel has a rhythmic flow that is intriguing. The characters are funny as well as charismatic. I see great potential in her style of writing worthwhile reads. But her downfall lies in very poor editing. With a more conscious effort in reviewing and correcting her work, Chante's Song would have been a very, very good read. This book was all over the place with the drama. At one point I felt as if I was back in high school with all the antics that were going on.
However, I continued to read on and in the end I thought the book was an okay read. Chante finally woke up and realized who she finally wanted only it may very well be too late. She should have kicked Jason to the curb and left that job a long time ago. It's not like the sistah didn't have an outstanding skill set, after all she was running Jason's World. I'm glad she step out and set up her own production company.
I really didn't care for the ending. I guess the author was leaving it up to the reader's own interruptation. I would have like to know if Chante got her love back or not.

Giving this book two stars is being generous. I couldn't even bring myself to finish reading it. After the first few chapters, I couldn't take it anymore. The saying is true, you get what you pay for.
Right off the bat there were serious editing issues which is a major pet peeve of mine, and why I'm not a fan of reading a lot of self-published books. While I understand that this is her first novel, I'm not sure if writing is her calling. If she continues, she should really take the time and study the craft of writing and editing.
