I was a little disappointed not knowing if Aunt B got together with the gentleman caller she was after, but all in all a great middle school age book or maybe 5th grade book.

Dec 01, Kris rated it really liked it. Peggy, an aspiring archaeologist, learns that one can become a deep water archaeologist and immediately signs up for Scuba lessons! Throughout the book Peggy pushes back on authority, but also discovers there can be consequences to pushing back. On the whole Peggy is portrayed as a typical thirteen-year old who is inquisitive, eager to learn, and not too keen on working!

As an adult reader, I'm a little hit-and-miss on Peggy's 'Bone Deep' is an interesting adventure story geared for early teens. As an adult reader, I'm a little hit-and-miss on Peggy's behaviour at times; however, I doubt this would be a problem with most young readers. Apr 30, Katarina rated it it was amazing. It's not only a very unique story, focused on marine archaeology and a determined young lady. I didn't like how she continued to lie instead of coming clean, but at the end that was resolved in a way that made sense. Peggy is a whirlwind, head strong, determined and a breath of fresh air. Started to read the book and realized it was geared to a younger audience so I had my teen-aged daughter read it and give me her opinion. Grimbal watches as she goes then gives her three thousand dollars later in the day. Why did she get the money anyway? Well, she got it so she could go back to see her mom. Peggy is reading the bones!!! Peggy changes at the end and is happy with her special pond and Aunt Margaret and Uncle Stuart. Peggy is twelve years old and is more like a tomboy than a girly-girl.

She wears jerseys and dirty clothes from her floor. She likes to collect shells with Mrs. Hobbes and is making her shells into a beautiful necklace for her mom. She loves doing the excavation with Eddy. It takes place in the present day in the little town of Crescent Beach. This is a fictional story but the places are real! The flashbacks also took place at Crescent Beach a long time ago when the Coast Salish came there in the summer. I did really enjoy this book because Anneliese my sister and I were so interested in the Coast Salish and how they lived and what they wore back then.

This story told us about the Coast Salish and it was really cool to listen to.

I did not like it when she was sad that her mother was gone. That is no fun at all. Reading The Bones is such a good book. So that was a little bit of the story and I hope you enjoyed my essay! Uncle Stuart was digging a pond in his backyard and Peggy found a skull in the pond! Grimbal are two other fictional characters in this book that live in Crescent Beach. Peggy had to live with her aunt and uncle so that her mom can find a job. Peggy found a skull Spoilers! And she started a digging project with an archaeologist and found a beautiful stone that she sold to Mr. Grimbal sold native artifacts and gave Peggy three thousand bucks for the stone.

Peggy was going to call her mom that night and say she won lots of money in a contest but would she really do that? In the end of this book, Peggy gets the stone back and her mom finds a job in Crescent Beach. I liked this book a lot because it ended perfectly and when I was bored it would spring up in my mind and my mom would read it out loud to my sister and I. If I had to rate this book it would be five out of five.
