God even had to make a bargain with the Jews and tell them that if they would tithe, He would give them rain from heaven and bless the land physically.
It was weak and useless. Now a better hope has been given to us. That hope brings us near to God. In the new covenant we are not to test God, but to trust God. We now live by grace not by law. It prevents him from developing a true Agape to give, thereby limiting the flow of generosity in its whole. It is two years later and your words are still empacting lives of those who are fortunate to read it. My prayer is to clear up enough debt so that I can. Thanks for your words brother. I will share them as I attempted to collect a love offering from my church for our pastoral family.
Reading this was a reminder to me of what is truly important. Now not only do I feel less stressed about my future financially, but I am also reminded to thank God for everything I have and to continue helping those that need it, whether they are more or less fortunate than I am. Giving is such a wonderful gift.
No immoral, impure or greedy person-such a man is an idolater-has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Second Abraham knew how to tithe because of his upbringing in the land of mesopotamia. I enjoyed this site and the verses will be helpful in my study. He talks about right and wrong but has never done anything right. Their inner thought is that their houses are forever and their dwelling places to all generations; they have called their lands after their own names.
Thank you for this post. I actually came across this website because I wanted to watch the Charlie Brown Christmas, and it brought me straight to this website. So coming to this website to watch it was quite the blessing, as well as reading something that I really needed to read! But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Holiness alone may not bring wealth but following these divine principles no doubt, will.
Thanks for the helpful tips. God has blessed me tremendously in so many ways. A small amount of money should not matter. There is a wealth of knowledge to share with the weak. If that were not so, this article would not have touched so many people. I believe God uses people to say what even the Church no longer preaches in their concern to be loving and compassionate. Which, sometimes is harsh, hurts or hits the bullseye no matter how loving it is said.

Money Came By the House the Other Day is a Christian Living Paperback by Robert readable guide that brings together solid principles of financial planning plays in your financial life - and what can be done to become a good steward.
Having the courage and conviction to write these things, to apply wit to them and truth in just the right amount mixed with non-judgement, I believe is a gift from the Holy Spirit. This was such an inspiring post! I have also learned that faith in God delivers us from financial burden even when it is looking pretty foggy at the end of the tunnel.
Just hold on and He will clear the way. You have motivated me even more to become debt free. I was googling through some sites for budget spreadsheets and came across your site. A personal want…to be financial stable and debt free. The bible has the answers and always will. Fabulous, fabulous words and teaching. Giving is so much fun. Oh Boy, God is so good and the best provider ever! Thank you soo muchh Bob.
Giving our OWN stuff away to the poor is honorable. Jesus helped the poor through His church, not through Caesar. I believe if christians base their giving on faith then indeed windows will be opened. Thank you very much Bob and God bless you for the knowledge you shared. I just had a revelation: I recently took a small loan and after much financial struggle the last few years, we have not taken any loans. I prayed about it and I believe the Lord revealed to me that he was dissapointed that i took a loan after working so hard to train me not to take any loans the last few years.
This definitely helps with personal finances. Why our country is in such deep financial trouble? Is it excessive love for money? How does the national debt got so big and how to begin paying it down?
Should govt tax more tithe? Or it is purely politics, where money is the root of all evils and power. God bless and thanks for the post. I have been struggling financially for 2 years since I lost my job. Family and friends have been truly a blessing to me during my barren season. Often, I have felt like I was on a lost island. Many of these scriptures have help me tremendously. Pray for me that God gives me a financial blessing this Christmas season so I can be a blessing to others who are far more worse off than myself.
Keep the encouragement coming. Bless you and yours. Thanks for the post. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.
Popular Bible Verse Topics: Is My Thought Life a Problem? Association of Biblical Counselors. Thank you so much for taking the time to collect such timely and comprehensive biblical reference list about money. I was able to quickly find an appropriate verse to share with someone who is having a difficult time managing money. This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?
I seem to be sliding backwards no matter how hard I try to move ahead as a single woman no dependents with just an average salary. This sudden increase in debt has caused great aggravation and feelings of defeat yes, I have went to the Word and prayed.. Hope you will read and readers and help stand in agreement with my mental strength. Some of these verses about worry helped me a lot. These encouraging bible verses also gave me a motivation when I lacked it. I faced and am still facing lot of problems in life, from childhood I have seen lot of violence in my house.
My dad is an extreme alcoholic and has been verbally, as well as physically, abusive to my mom — my sis and myself — and his own parents as well.
My dad thinks of himself as a very holy and righteous man. He left the Catholic church on the pretext that it is not of God. He is always judgmental about people and believes that we all will go to hell except him. He talks about right and wrong but has never done anything right. He cheated my fiance for money which I never thought my father would have ever done. My father had promised me he will do the best for us, but when money came his colors changed.
My father has been cheated in the past by many people with money and so I thought, he will never do such a thing. Its more like stabbing a person quietly. When I confronted my father and told him what he is doing is wrong, and that he is taking advantage of a simple man, my father argues and tells me even an outsider would do so, and there is nothing wrong in it.
Yes I have to pay for my fathers sins and I will do that once I have enough money to pay back. But I am still unable to understand that someone can talk about Christ and yet do so much bad. It just feels like satan is operating via him to disgrace our lord. I needed to post this so that people, if ever you lose faith in Christ due to anyone or any reason, you should know that the world is filled with evil.
Evil, if not judged today, it will be judged someday. Trust me I have faced really bad times and still am facing each day. I have had so many failures in life even after hard work and sometimes have been so disheartened because nothing went right. And when Christ being God himself could suffer and take so much pain for us, I think we should at least trust him and believe he will give us the strength.
When you are suffering just thank God cause he felt you can handle it.
I just have one belief Jesus is Christ and try your best to follow the bible. He loves each of us and will keep giving us chances till we are alive even if we are bad he will. I pray my father changes and realizes what wrong he has done before its too late. Please pray for him that he changes and also for me and my family and every person facing such situations so that God gives us all strength to keep our faith in him.
And pray for every person who has turned their back to the Lord. The devil wants to take as many souls as he can. But we have to fight him for our Lord. Praise the Lord Almighty Jesus Christ. The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. We can run to Him in prayer, and he will be there to comfort us. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
I read your post and it was very poignant. You have been through a lot and I will continue to pray for you and your family. Life is hard, but GOD is good. We just have to trust in Him and set the example to follow in His footprints daily. Again, I pray for peace in your family, especially your father. Hang in there and never cease to pray. There are a lot of others in this world that need Jesus. We are all sinners and in need of Him. Prayers from here to you, my friend!!! Thank you for the time you took to put these verses together. I thought these other verses would be great for them to read on their own to see what else the Bible has to say about money.
I was wondering why the Bible says that we need only food and raiment clothes as far as physical needs to be content. Obviously we need water too, and maybe medical help, and what about housing? All the context I read so far of the many raiment verses, easily is clothing in meaning. I know people need far less housing than they prefer to live in, but no housing is necessary for contentment? Or does it mean no home of our own, that sharing with other homeowners is fine, no reason to be unhappy, if the person is happy to share their home with us?
I heard of one woman who was divorcing her husband to save her financial situation…. Worshiping money more than the God who tells us that divorce is adultery. I am willing now to be homeless or live in whatever home my husband will provide. What freedom, not caring about lifestyle enough to complain anymore. Often in the Bible, giving, etc. Clearly, tithing is OT. Even Billy Graham believes that. Please there is a place in the bible that talks about money.
Can you help me? I have enjoyed this web page on Bible verses about money. I was looking for some information for an essay in Theology When I start reading the different verses I did not want to stop. My heart and pray go out to the young lady with the situation with her father abusive and taking money that do not belong to him. In spite of, she is keeping the faith.
I know she is a woman that love and fear God. When God is with us, who can be against us. I have the website in writing and I will continue to read it daily. Thanks, and may God forever bless you. Several years ago I almost died in a hospital in Hawaii after living overseas in the Marshall islands. I woke up in the hospital in late March and was changed not just physically but spiritually.
I know that God is real. He is not dead or made up but real. My sister, Debbie called me and asked me to come to Idaho where she would be my attendant. I agreed and was medevac May 25, and sent to a rehab facility here in Idaho where I continued to learn how to walk. He was one and I saw how he dragged himself off the floor and got on his feet and took his first steps.
He made walking fun.
I lost my job and had to recover. We all moved into a apartment and I kept improving. The following year our mother died and we flew to Mobile, AL and found a mess. We had problems with the insurance policy that mom had with the US government. I contacted the bank which was a joke and have since found out that they have a thief working for them but no one seems to give a damn.
The 3 women involved in the theft plus at the bank did not give a damn but the great part was that I visited the church where my mother went to for service and the preacher spoke to the congregation about reading the Bible everyday, a chapter of the Old Testament, a chapter of the New Testament and a chapter of Psalms. That made me want to go back to the hotel and read the first chapters of the Bible. I also added a chapter of Proverbs each day. I have gotten so much out of it.
