So things suddenly start to change when a mysterious new girl comes to town, Hope , who befriends Opal. The three make a pretty fun group when they hang out together. So, as you can probably guess, Hope is mysterious because she comes from another world, Athre, where everyone has Gifts of some kind. Opal has connections to Athre that lead to her recently developing a Gift of her own the powers I mentioned earlier , but I was kind of unclear on what her Gift was.
The last quarter of the book went really quickly for me, and I enjoyed reading the fight scenes, especially. Cross-posted on Youth Book Review. But are they really? Or they'll appear becoming stronger the next time?
Opal is a strong female protagonist that you can't help loving her. She is the character that everyone can relate to. What she finds out is that she has a special gift using which she has to save a completely different world called Athre. When she Super blend of Fantasy, Action and Gifts! When she is introduced with the whole new world of Gifts, she is flabbergasted to figure out so and with her, we are astonished too. From a normal world to this amazingly fascinating story, there were a lot of things I cherished about.
What I appreciated about this book was how well the characters developed themselves. I got to see their entire journey as not-so-careful person to the one who understands responsibilities. I adored the fact that they all were school-kids and acted like that. Everything about their personality was believable and related at many levels. I congratulate the author for bringing out the magical things from these simple and moving characters.
A detailed work-out has been done here which is awesome for some people and some may find it not so good. But it functioned well for me, so I think it would be for you too. I'm starting to wonder what I'll get to see in the next episodes of this series. A coming-of-age story written for the fantasy and young adult audience, Best choice for reading on a weekend.

Opal is an unlikely heroine and a very reluctant one at that. Through much of the book, we also see her suffering from depression and having withdrawn from friends and others. Opal can be unlikable and difficult, but her depression and isolation grow out of grief, and I found myself empathizing with her, but also her family who were clearly overwhelmed with the situation.

Opal soon finds out that her birthmark is full of magical powers which will change her ordinary life forever. Opal seems to be a very sad and anxious young girl, but having the fate of another universe will have that effect on you. By the end of the novel the obstacles that challenge her help her to overcome the errors of her past and she becomes a much stronger person! This book was easy to digest from page one! I had so much trouble because it was so engrossing.
The characters seemed relatable and authentic, there is a lot of diversity, and the plot flows smoothly. I enjoyed seeing the characters develop over the course of the novel as well as their personalities. After patching up their friendship, they pick up right where they left off. As for the world building, the exposition of the realms and the names of people from the other universe were a bit confusing at times. Jun 19, Becca McCulloch rated it really liked it. I was very excited about the full "own voices" cast by this debut author.
But I Struggled with due to an unlikable narrator who is an excellent study in depression but also a reminder of why it's hard to love the depressed. The writing is very good and the characters well drawn. I will read the sequel but I was disappointed in this one. Nov 11, Michi rated it it was amazing. I loved this book ok. Jan 21, Kim Ammons youthbookreview rated it liked it. I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Cross-posted on Youth Book Review I've moved this rather than just marking it as requiring verification because there are several unrelated claims.
I've never experienced anything remotely like this myself. There's no reason a character's health should be affected and why this should lead to him becoming stuck. As for the savegame corruption This messed up my game.
He got knocked unconscious before I could do anything, then I ran in to kill the mythic dawn agent. After, when he needed to lead me to the sewers, I found his health was dangerously low, and after that I constantly crashed if I loaded the savegame.
Although the fight is pretty one sided in Baurus' favor, Baurus won't mind if you fight Astav from the rear. I reviewed the book on my blog as well! When walking through the sewers mud crabs, rats and goblins will attack. She does snap at people a lot, though, and her moods shift constantly, which started to grate on me after a while. This is an archive of past Oblivion talk:
I had to restart from an earlier save because of this. Baurus talked to the the sponsor as i killed the 2 guards up top, I left the room for 2 seconds and came back in and the sponsor couldnt be found. The green indicator is also just glitching around not staying still. I've moved the text here because it doesn't provide any useful information what triggers the bug, what exactly happens if you have the bug, how to fix the bug and also because it seems very dubious that the bug is actually fixed by UOP.
Even if you make Baurus invisible and everything remains peaceful, you cannot talk to the Sponsore when his monologue ends and he doesn't give you the book by himself. Does anybody know if you can steal the books from someone such as Eugal Belette and trigger the quest that way? Maybe it would help laundering the books with the help of a fence first. I'm not sure if you can only use the specific books given to you during the quest. For example, when you get the quest update "Baurus wants me to search the dead agents body" , would you be able to leave the room, steal a copy of volume.
It would be quite nice to know if this is possible. It would be a quick for theif characters to work their way around this quest if they were busy. Can anyone find this out by reading the construction set or testing it in game? I have no idea why this is supposed to be a bug, or why you're supposedly "stuck" if you lose the books. The quest updates when you first obtain each book -- you don't even have to read the book, just have it added to your inventory. Volume 3 only becomes a non-quest object after the quest update, therefore it is impossible to lose the book without obtaining the quest update.
For volume 2, it's never a quest object because there are multiple copies of the book -- and also because it does not itself trigger any quest updates there's a quest update at the same time you're given the book, but the book itself does not cause the update. After first obtaining the books, you are no longer required to keep either book. The only remaining purpose for the books is to extract the clue about where the cult is located. However, if you've lost the books, you can read the books here on the site or you can read the quest walkthrough, and therefore you can figure out what to do without any of the books.
Why do you need to obtain another copy of the books? What part of the quest are you unable to complete? Where is the bug? Out of curiosity and for the sake of collectors , how many copies of volumes 3 and 4 exist in-game? Anybody with a console want to tackle this? That was an incredibly fast response!
I went to the sewers without Baurus, sat down on the chair and waited Pity, I would have liked to do what the note to Gwinas says - go alone! When does he lose his essential status? At the beginning of the quest or the middle of it? Kill him, free the Prisoner and make good your escape. Brought for 1 selling at 3. Before you talk to the guy who takes your stuff drop everything on the floor then talk to him when he says to follow him go get you stuff, then follow him. It may not be the same for everyone but I had to give my stuff to a guy named Harrow the dark elf. What I did was get the book you are supposed to steal something thats like xarxes or something and took it to the blades.
I went back to the mythic dawn place and killed all the guys. If its the same person for everyone make sure you search the guy named Harrow and your stuff will be in his inventory.
