After a while a child will memorize the words and can literally read it to you! Each story by Bryan leads to the next, and this one is no exception, though a new book has not been released to date. One person found this helpful. When I received this one and read it aloud to my husband we both loved it! We are saving it for our son's Easter basket but we know it will be a fast favorite! The last line in each of these books makes a reference to the title character of the next book in the series. Such a silly and fun book.

As a matter of fact for their 3rd birthday next month we are having an "animal on top" themed party. My kids laugh out loud at this one! Our grandchildren giggled at the silliness of the situation. This is a cautionary tale for all families with overloaded schedules. As Mack rushes through a busy, busy day he is reminded by the boy that everyone needs to rest and take time to just enjoy life.
The rhyming cadence is pleasant for read-out-loud time. A story to enjoy by both grandparents and grandchildren. This bear is uptight and has a huge list of things he has to do today. But when he wakes up he discovers he has a boy on his back which changes everything. And a reminder that sometimes if you are too busy being busy you miss out on having fun along the way. And sometimes you just need to pause and sniff the flowers.

We read this book before A Boy and His Bunny, and we didn't act this one out. Even so, the text had my very tired little boy laughing, out loud, and often.

I love the concept and a bear and his boy, and how busy this bear is! The rhymes make the story fun and it's easy to fly through it.
