It covers the whole realm of applying effects to recording - EQ, reverb, saturation, delay, compression, limiting, etc etc etc - and, as far as I know, is one of just a few books to do so, so comprehensively. I think about all the blogs, web sites, and other venues where people ask "How do you use delay? This book really nets out what tools you can use to improve recordings, and how to use them. I love this book. The only thing that could make it better is if the author were to come out with a followup book for those of us who now understand the basics and really want to take it to the next level with effects and processors.
I would pay 10 times what this book costs for a follow-up book that deals with the exact same topics as this one, but at a more advanced level. Not exactly what I wanted. I was looking for more practical advice on how to produce good midi files on my home computer. This is a excellent book for those of you looking for a book on how to obtain and use effects in a modern day era. I am using this book to open up new horizons for me in my home studio. This is also a excellent book to read before buying that have to have hardware or software plugins.
