This is a must have Christmas book, with beautiful solos to play over a lifetime. Dennis Alexander is at his best here, and the printing format is lovely. Students call it the "Castle Book".

The "God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen" piece, however, is strictly for the teacher or quite advanced student, due to constantly shifting meter - a real challenge but tremendous fun.

These are suitable for the church pianist as well as recitals, or just sitting down on a snowy day with a cuppa One person found this helpful. I LOVE the special arrangement of the silent night in this book. A little jazzy and more modern than the typical version. It has a lot of volume in the tune. Ordered to give me more variety with my Christmas music choices for church services. Some pieces take a little more time to work out but over-all, a good selection. I bought this book because I needed to play an offertory at church the week before Christmas.

The arrangements are okay, but some of them end a little weird. If you're buying a book to play at church, I would not recommend this book. If you are looking for some pretty Christmas music for the piano, you will enjoy this. Late intermediate to early advanced. Some of the pieces you will be able to sight read. And some you will have to work on. You'll enjoy all of them. I have just found this particular piano composer, and I really like him.

His Christmas songs are traditional, but with a fresh take. It has such a fun, upbeat sound. If you google his name you will find a website where you can listen to a lot of his songs before you buy them.

This book has seven great arrangements that are late intermediate to early advanced. For my skill level, they will take a little practicing, but are very doable. This book was just way too easy for me and not what I'd hoped for. Besides being simple arrangements, I found them very odd. Not a single one out of the entire book made it past the sight reading stage.

I'll set this book aside and give it one more chance next year. Then it will probably end up in my "give away" pile. I grew up playing from this book and love the arrangements.
