The Love of a Mate (Pack Discipline Book 4)

I like how the characters previously featured in the series are present throughout each novel and the stories all challenge the same overall theme of what it means to be dominant or submissive in different ways. Oct 27, Charly rated it liked it. A satisfying end to the series, but some of the writing was a bit jumpy for me Warning: It took quite a while for me to warm up to him when I saw him being so sneaky around Alfred and both of his alphas.

For some reason, the cause and effect of such things seemed disjointed to me. Jul 21, Becky Condit rated it it was amazing. Kim Dare knows how to write shifter stories and Love of a Mate is one of her best. Through the first three books of the Pack Discipline series, Alfred has been a troublemaker, and even a villain. The way his character was developed I had no sympathy for him as man or wolf, and neither did most of his pack. Alfred has not achieved the correct rank in the pack because neither he nor his alphas know what he is. Therefore, his constant challenges for rank do nothing to achieve his goal of respect and Kim Dare knows how to write shifter stories and Love of a Mate is one of her best.

Therefore, his constant challenges for rank do nothing to achieve his goal of respect and recognition, but instead foster only anger and resentment. When Caden recognizes what Alfred is he has to convince not only the Alphas and the other wolves in the pack, but Alfred himself. With patience and love, Caden does just that, risking everything for the man he loves.

This is a great conclusion to the Alfred story arc and comes with a sweet HEA. I enjoyed the series and this book very much.

Review: The Love of a Mate (Pack Discipline #4) by Kim Dare – writing bookish notes

While the caution from the blurb says to read them in order, I believe this one can be read as a stand alone as everything is fairly well explained, but it is true that you will get more out of it by reading all of the books, and in order. Becky's 5 sweet pea review appears at http: May 02, Merith rated it really liked it. I'm wavering between a 4 and 4. Wow, what a way to end the series! It was perfect, actually. It's funny how true Alfred's behavior is to many people who've been misunderstood, or not given the chance to prove their worth. I love how just a little encouragement from Caden made all the difference in Alfred.

Though, once it was pointed out to them, they were good at accepting they might have I'm wavering between a 4 and 4. Though, once it was pointed out to them, they were good at accepting they might have been mistaken where Alfred is concerned. I really thought the alphas, at least Bennett would have realized there's more to Alfred than what meets the eye. That one of them would have searched for more of an answer than just allowing him to cause trouble and not make himself be part of the pack.

As good a dom as Marsdon is, he should have seen something, maybe? Other than he too has been guided by the idea that Alfred is just a troublemaker because that's what his cousin has been for most his life. It is a hard role to get out of once you've been put into it.

Anyway, it's a great finish to a wonderful series. Definitely one I'll read over again several times. Jul 04, Vfields Don't touch my happy! Okay, first lets get one thing straight. Not every book is top-drawer. That being said I enjoyed this series a lot. Sometimes a B movie can be most satisfying and that's what I got! May 30, Pedro rated it it was amazing. Was a bit show don't tell "I love you Played with some sterotypes: Dec 31, Mariana rated it it was ok. It was nice that we ended in the challenge circle in this installment of the Pack Discipline series.

I find this series a little odd as the shifter part of this story is very small. Jun 06, Julesmarie rated it really liked it Shelves: This is my second favorite of the series idk if anything could beat the first one and i'm so glad it ended on a high note! Interestingly enough, while this one still dealt with the wolves' chores and daily schedules and things, I wasn't nearly as bothered with questions about why and how they live like they do as i was in the third book. I was so captivated by Caden and Alfred that i found myself not really caring about the why and how--i was too busy just enjoying watching them live it.

It's interesting that Caden's actions through the whole book never came across to me as manipulative. I read The Librarian this week also, and it's fascinating to me right now to analyze my reactions to the two characters. I think the reason Caden didn't come across as manipulative was that he never pretended to be something he wasn't. Alfred just needed some help working through some things.

And I think that's my favorite thing about this book: Caden took the time to really SEE Alfred, not just see his actions and his attitude. And because of that, he was able to set some things in motion to positively impact not just Alfred, but the whole pack. Caden didn't just want Alfred, he wanted what was best for him. I was a little disappointed that caden and alfred never actually spoke about what alfred overheard caden say in the barn.

Great book, fun series.

Dare never ceases to amaze. Trouble maker and slacker are how his pack mates would describe him. Caden is also a gamma wolf who came to this pack with his brother. He's is known for his good loo Originally posted at: He's is known for his good looks and flirtatious personality. When Caden sets his sights on Alfred he has sets a plan in motion to help Alfred become the mate he needs. He also wants Alfred to find his place within the pack and gain the respect from the other wolves.

Half-truths and misunderstanding have this couple at odds. The lack of communication between them causes problems that could have been avoided had they just talked to one another. Their assumptions created more doubt to come between these two men. The Love of a Mate was a pleasant read. Though the story dragged on in spots and I would lose interest and would have to put the book away then come back later.

So story start with the lovestory of Marsdon and Bennett, first book was very good and nice you smiled at their happy ending then comes the second boom in this series the strength of gamma.. I loved this book and there happy ending.. Before this book i never like Alfred specially because he challenged Bennett in the first book.. No one was ready to understand him.. But anyways Caden was there for him..

Before this series i had never like Wolf novel but now i must say i am addictive for warewolves novels and i am looking forward to many more such novels.. Sep 07, Adara rated it liked it. Through the first half of this one I felt like Caden's character was all wrong. I admit that had something to do with my preconceived notion of what his character should have been in order to match what my preconceived notion of Alfred was. Only Kim actually made it work for me by the end.

It was not what I expected the story to be, but i Through the first half of this one I felt like Caden's character was all wrong. It was not what I expected the story to be, but it was what the story was always supposed to be, and it works well. I still like the first one best, but this one is second best. God, but the typos really sucked me out of this one a lot, though. Unless 'span' used as the past tense of the verb 'to spin' is a British thing? Poor cinnamon roll Alfred just wants to be loved and we have Caden quite literally throwing himself at Alfred's feet. Only Caden sees this and is trying to make Alfred see he really is a good wolf, despite of what everyone is always telling him. I admit that had something to do with my preconceived notion of what his character should have been in order to match what my preconceived notion of Alfred was.
